    Xbox One Clicking / Ticking Fan Noise at Dashboard and in Apps


    Hi guys,

    Bought a new XB1 1TB model a couple of weeks ago off Amazon which has been great apart from a noticeable clicking noise coming from the fan compartment of the console when it's idle at the dashboard or using apps. The noise is audible over the regular fan
    'hum' from about 4-5 feet (obviously louder the closer you get) and sounds similar to an old hard drive ticking over or the fan brushing an internal component. For whatever reason this only seems to affect the dashboard and apps and the noise disappears when
    playing a game. Standard fixes like a hard reset / power cycle haven't been successful.

    From a bit of research, I know a lot of owners were reporting a similar issue with the original batch of Kinect-less consoles and that an older OS update was supposed to address this, although the majority of posts seemed to be from around 2014, so it would
    be great to know whether this noise is normal for newer models. Assuming it's not, is a replacement / warranty repair the way to go or is there a less drastic fix available?

    Ticking/clicking noise from optical drive ?

    Having an issue with a new Slim..

    When there is a disk in the drive and the console is idle at dashboard I can hear a clicking/ticking noise. For a reference point this noise sounds similar in character to a fan whose bearings are failing or the click of a hard drive. Though I should note
    my console does not have a HD fitted.

    slight ticking/crackling noise from Xbox one console

    MIne is ticking. I suspect it's the fan because when I turn off the unit, the ticking continues until the fan stops moving. The ticking is coming from just over the CPU location at the top where the exhaust fan is blowing out. The ticking gets more frequent
    (and maybe louder?) when I play a game and less frequent when watching TV or Netflix. The unit started out silent, but each day the ticking becomes increasingly noticeable.

    I have no problems with functionality at all, but the noise is distracting.

    Is someone from Xbox One support monitoring these threads?

    Xbox One S Clicking & tapping sounds.

    Got it for the holidays & it's making clicking & taping sounds. They're a bit louder then on in the video & when I use open back headphones I can't really hear it. I'm just concerned & wondering if I should send it back.

    Well if it's the famous xbox one s, fan tick/clicking sound... There's nothing to worry about. One S consoles lacking the tick noise from the fan seem uncommon.. I just watched a youtube video where a xbox repair guy investigated the issue, he even took out
    the fan and took it apart etc. He said no need to worry, nothing is broken.. it's just by how it's designed that easily can cause the tick noise.. No sign of hw failure. But now I don't know if it's this issue u describe since I'm on my xbox and typing this

    i dont have a microsoft retailer, i live in Honduras, but the console was bought in Orlando i believe, it was a gift from my brother, the console is from the year 2015, so i dont know what to do right now.

    The video you provided seems like something is loose or too tight it's best to contact your local Microsoft retailer (If you got one) and see if they can fix it for you.

    DON'T take it apart yourself it'll void your warranty and they'll refuse to work on it since it is considered self repair.

    Weird Noise coming from Power Brick

    My issue is that the fan ticks. The console is set up in a bedroom. When everything is turned off (or on standby), I hear this fast "tick, tick, tick" from the Xbox One PSU. I specifically built my PC to be as close to silent as I could make it, so I can
    even hear the Xbox One PSU ticking over the sound of my PC when that's turned on. I'm not saying that the noise is "loud", because it's not. But any noise that can clearly and constantly be heard when a product is supposedly turned off is not good, especially
