  1. Xbox one chatpad.

    @iBakez:

1: Not everyone has a smartphone

2: Not everyone that has a smartphone has a compatible model

3: Touch screens are inaccurate, clunky, slow, and cumbersome overall compared to keystrokes

4: The added weight and contour of the former chatpad peripheral added much desired enhanced ergonomics to the controller, as well as a lovely counter-balance to the weight of the controller

5: In certain MMOs, Smartglass just isn't practical, assuming it's even compatible, so options are limited to either USB keyboard or a chatpad, and in the case of the Xbox One, that means you're stuck with with keyboard, which isn't an ideal option for most
    gamers

There's a handful of reasons why people don't just submit to smartglass.

  2. I've couldn't have explain this better myself. It took me like 10-15 second for the smart glass to start up and connect with the xbox every time I get a message. They are only useful sending messages when you are not at home with your xbox. Smart glass better
not be replacing the chat pad. I'm a xbox fan and always been one. I'm just gonna keep talking *** till they make that chat pad!

    Xbox one chatpad.

I would really love for the new xbox one chat pad to be a touch screen that blends right in when its snapped in. This touch screen would give it so much potential with smart glass, and similarities with wii u control pad.

I think StSlevin007 has nailed it here, integrated screen dedicated to Smartglass on the controller is a perfect solution. Not only is it a keyboard for messages, but its the perfect place for companion app integration too, without the worry that your
existing Smartglass device(s) aren't comparable (I have a windows phone and don't have Uplay support, etc), and all within reach of your already positioned thumbs. . I'll be the first to admit, even if my phone is sat next to me while playing, I'll end up
typing my message with the clunky time consuming joystick rather than go through the process of: pickup phone/tablet, unlock phone/tablet, navigate to Smartglass App, wait for Smartglass App to load and connect, navigate to keyboard, use keyboard, close down
Smartglass App and then get mildly wound up when the reply you receive has an unexpected addition question and you have to do it all again! The human race has been spoiled with instant access to most things nowadays, and sad as it sounds, we're getting inherently
lazy, we want it all now, ha ha! . A 'Smartpad' (I'm coining that by the way Microsoft) that is powered up via the controller and always on ready seems like the perfect solution to me. Its a blank screen until you need it and instantly jumps into life when
required, you open up the messaging tab and the keyboard is automatically displayed, you play a game with a companion app and it flashes up asking you if you'd like to use it as a second screen, you watch a film and all your trivia is there on the controller,
infact you could watch a film while messaging a friend, all without having to use an extra bit of non integrated technology. . I genuinely think StSleven007 should send that idea to the new Microsoft Feedback site, I'd certainly vote for it!

  7. Best idea I heard so far. I can get with this...Hell I'd even help fund it if I could. This could be one if the best accessory xbox has to ofer since they don't rely on the Kenict as much now

Add me to the list of ppl wanting a chatpad on the XBONE controller. I don't even own an XBone, but i use the controller for my PC, i used a 360 controller for my pc for ever and even though the chatpad didn't work with it it still added that much needed
weight and balance to the controller. Please M$ make a chatpad, take my money for it but do me a favor and for the love of Pete make it work with the PC this time around.

Smartglass is good and all. But sadly touchscreens are really combersome with both the occasional "inaccurate" touch responses & lag. Plus you need WiFi in order to use Smartglass. Not everyone has a wireless router, whether they can or not. Many players
out their dislike using wireless and/or just prefer a wired connection to the internet. And if you do go wireless it is suggested you use a high-quality router in order to play and stay connected "properly". So for all of them Smartglass is not an option Xbox one chatpad. :(

  13. Xbox one chatpad.

Smartglass and USB keyboards for chatting and web browsing is utterly stupid. There is no sound reason anyone can give on why i should put down my controller to type when i use my controller for everything else? Isnt the Xbox One motto "quick, easy, instant"
    so....WHERES MY CHATPAD?!

Hopefully what they're doing is working on putting a button to record video game footage for those who don't want to, or can't, use Kinect for doing so?? x.x I hope a button for that will exist on their o_o lol.

Someone did post above a link to a picture of the return manual for the Xbox One and one of the items it asks not to include seems like a messenger pad. So looks like there's a chance it will exist :')

  15. You know, the creativity is great and all. I really just want a chat pad with buttons like the 360. I can touch type on it, which I've never been able to do on a touch screen. Not really interested in smart glass integration either as I want the main function
to be texting and not some monstrosity that has a bunch of features that I won't use.

    To each his own though.
