Xbox One Chatpad turns off my console

Yea u power cycled twice, and then even tried it on my other Xbox One, and still the same thing. It did start working again last night, after I had charged the battery to 100%, then plugged in the chatpad again, and it worked. However, I had more problems
with it again this morning, as my girlfriend was using the the controller without it plugged into the console. So then when I went to use it, I turned on the controller and the chatpad wouldn't work. So I had to unplug the chatpad, plug in the charge cable,
and the light turned red for a couple of seconds, then turned white. I plugged the chatpad back in, and it has been working. It seems that I need to leave the controller plugged in for the chatpad to keep working. It will work when I unplug the controller,
but only until the controller turns off. Once it turns off, when it's turned back on, the chatpad won't work again until the controller is 100% charged. It's very odd. Thinking about purchasing another Chatpad to see if maybe I just got a bad one, because
my dad hasn't had those problems with his, just his controller randomly disconnecting, which is a problem that I haven't had in about a year.

I also use the Chatpad and have it plugged into a second controller.

When you want to switch over to the Chatpad just turn off controller 1 by either holding down the Guide button untill the "Turn off controller" option appears or take the battery out of the controller.

When you turn on the 2nd controller with the Chatpad attached it will be assigned to player one.

Note that if you turn on the second controller while the first is still on it will become player two untill the XBOX is turned off, so make sure the second pad is activated AFTER you have turned off the first.

The orange blinking light means it needs an update, it says "You must update both your Xbox One console and your Xbox One Controller for the Xbox One Chatpad to work correctly."

Since your using it with your PC, attach a micro usb cable, run a update scan for Windows & Microsoft updates, and make sure all drivers are installed.

I have this device and try this.

Plug in the chatpad as well as the headset you're using.

Do the update for the controller AND WAIT...it should also later show the chatpad and it will do another update.

If you have a 3.5m controller, this can be done wireless but then restart the console via a hard reset (hold down the xbox logo on the console unttil it cuts off)

now turn the console back on with the controller while everything is plugged in (chatpad, headset) and do the controller update again.

Comment back if this doesn't fix the issue

Off brand Xbox One chatpads are available. Any news on an official MS one?
