Xbox One Chatpad Not working when connected

when i connect my xbox one chatpad to my controller, it automatically switches off the controller and both don't work, I press the centre button to turn the controller back on and it doesn't work.

when the controller is connected to the Xbox via a USB cable the controller stays on but the chatpad doesn't work.

ive connected the headset adaptor to see if the controller is the problem and it works while connected, so it must be something to do with the chatpad.

please help.

Xbox One Chatpad Does Not Work on Windows 10

Xbox One Chatpad does not work when connected to bluetooth in windows 10, even if the Xbox One controller works with bluetooth. But when I connect the controller with a USB cable, the chatpad is running.
I downloaded Xbox Accessories. The update was installed on the controller and chatpad. Still, there's nothing changing. Will I be able to wirelessly run the chatpad on Windows 10 without receiving the Xbox Wireless Adapter?

Connecting the Xbox One Chatpad for the first time

You must update both your Xbox One console and your Xbox One Controller for the Xbox One Chatpad to work correctly. Follow these steps:

Update your console to the most recent Xbox One operating system. The chatpad requires your console to have a November 2015 (or later) update. For more information, see Xbox One operating system versions and system updates.

Turn on your Xbox One Controller.

Insert the chatpad into the controller.

Update your Xbox One Controller. The orange LED will blink to indicate that it's connected and requires an update. See Update your Xbox One Controller for more information.

Connect a 3.5-mm audio headset cable to the chatpad. For more information, see Connecting a compatible headset to Xbox One.

The orange blinking light means it needs an update, it says "You must update both your Xbox One console and your Xbox One Controller for the Xbox One Chatpad to work correctly."

Since your using it with your PC, attach a micro usb cable, run a update scan for Windows & Microsoft updates, and make sure all drivers are installed.

As best as we can tell, the chatpad is not designed to work over a Bluetooth connection. None of

our documentation indicates that it will work over Bluetooth. The controller itself has the Bluetooth connection however the chatpad was designed/released well before the new controller style was. As it is working when using a USB connection or the controller
dongle connection, then it is working as intended and as designed. If you'd like to leave feedback for improved chatpad connections, you can do so over on the
Xbox Feedback site.

Paul here from Xbox Forums Team here to assist with the situation, It looks like the Xbox One Chatpad isn't working properly while connected to the PC. If you are trying to use it for a specific game I would check to make sure the game developer supports
the Xbox One Chatpad function on it. Otherwise I would try these
steps.
