Xbox One Chat Headset Problem and More

I've been having some trouble on and off since around Christmas with the headset packaged with the XBONE. The orange light turns on/off, I can hear fine, but the microphone isn't picking up sound. In addition, my XBONE says the headset is plugged in even
    when it isn't.

I've tried unplugging/replugging/resetting every cable and my modem. My NAT is Open and my Privacy is set for Custom/Adult. I contacted a support representative through chat and the only solution was for me to send it back and get a replacement. When I did
more research on this problem afterwards, I came across some forum threads with the same problem and they had to get a whole new Xbox One.

I also have trouble viewing friends list and the messenger says unable to do anything most of the time. The frame rates seem to drop to 10-15 fps when anything remotely intense goes on in-game even when in single player. Is this just because the GPU in the
XBONE isn't as good as the one in the PS4?

Has anyone had similar issues? I hope I don't have to take back my Xbox One just because of a chat issue.

    P.S.

On a side note, What is with the Xbox Headset Adapter? I've been looking to get a new headset besides this cheap thing and it seems like (for the most part) I have to buy the headset and a 30$ adapter just to get it to work? This just sounds ridiculous and
a another way to get more money out of people. What's next an adapter for the controller to work and another adapter for the Xbox One to read games?

    :)

Xbox one mic/voice not detected on several headsets/controllers

Problem: Xbox One (Day one) is frequently not receiving signal from microphone after several symptom free months. Problem has occurred using a stereo chat adapter and more recently, using the standard console headset. Latest console/controller firmware
    is updated.

    When problem occurs:

    • In party chat, I can see the "voice bubble" never lights up when I speak. I hear game sound and other's chat through the headset/speakers just fine.
    • The "mute" light on the chat adapter and headset does not light up when the problem occurs
    • Occurs at beginning of session- mic loss has very rarely occurred during gaming
My initial thought when I was using the chat adapter was it was a bad cable/input. After the problem occurred with the MS headset, I'm not so sure.

    Tested:

Three controllers, two stereo headsets (w/ chat adapter) + MS chat headset. Does not seem to be controller or headset dependent.

    Occasional solutions (not 100%):

Re-plugging in controller via USB (I typically leave the controller wired), cable to chat adapter, plugging into different controller, hard console reset.

Is it possible this is a console problem (I have not been able to test on other consoles, nor do I think it realistic since the mic loss doesn't happen every time)? Problem on the XBL side?

The Xbox One is a powerful piece of hardware with 8GB RAM DDR3,Custom 1.75 GHz AMD 8 core APU (2 Quad-Core Jaguar modules) 64-bit processors and plenty more muscle, two of the Xbox One's eight CPU cores are reserved for the underlying operating system. Now,
Microsoft is enabling developers to leverage 50 to 80 percent of one of those cores, improving performance - See more at:

    www.eweek.com/.../microsoft-unlocks-extra-xbox-one-cpu-power.html

the problem you are describing has nothing to do with the GPU or the processor, your problem might be related to a glitch with your controller here's what I would try:

Update one more time following these instructions:
    forums.xbox.com/.../1734855.aspx

Also try a hard reset, remove all batteries and usb cable and hold on the power button on the controller for a minute to drain all residual electricity in the controller, then plug the battery back in, try also brand new AA batteries, I personally prefer
these batteries http://goo.gl/TZJme8 for both my Xbox One controller and Scuf One Controller and if all these don't resolve your problem you will need a new controller. See if the one you have is still under
warranty, if yes you can send it back and get a free replacement.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't believe it was related to any PU's. I was simply wondering if everyone else was experience some frame rate drops when a lot is going on in-game or If I just got a bad box.

I did complete a successful update, however it didn't resolve anything. I use a rechargeable Nyko pack for batteries.

I spoke with a lady on the phone and she told me to send my headset back. I didn't like it anyways and was planning on getting a new one eventually. If that doesn't work I'll try the controller next. Thanks for the help.

Just spent almost 100$ on a pair of turtle beaches and still won't work. Obviously a controller or xbox one issue.
