Xbox One Chat Headset not turning on

Hello,

Previously I had no issues with the mic that came with the system, I just havn'tt used it for maybe 1 month. So I just got Titanfall so I tried to connect to a party with a friend but my headset was not transmitting my voice through the mic and it was not
playing the chat audio through the headset, sound was coming out of the speakers only. I could not get the red light to turn on the headset when you press the mute and I could not get the beep noise after pressing audio up to max. I changed the setting so
the kinect would act as the microphone to make sure I wasnt having party chat issues and everything worked fine, so I ruled out party chat problems. I just can't get this damn headset to start working again.

I don't have another controller or headset to test, but I tried swapping batteries, unplugging 50 times, letting it sit unplugged, restarting my system, cleaning the contacts. Is it common for these headsets to just die like this or is it likely a controller
issue?

Can hear people but they can't hear me

I am having the same trouble with the standard Xbox one chat head set (Firmware Version: 4.9.0.0), i've tried logging out turning the counsel off , unplugging, turning on using the controller, Updated controller with headset attached, swapped out batteries,
nothing is working.

As a side note: i have the purple circle by my avatar indicating my headset is attached , even after i unplug it from the controller..

Hi there im stuck getting my headset to work on my xbox one. ive reset everything twice, tried updating controller with cord attached and headset, checked all online settings/ voice commuications/ played around with the video/ sound a few times TOP RIGHT HAND CORNER is
a mic and a circle// in party chat i have a triangle.. / tried turning of controller and turning back on

 

Just wondering here... Have you updated the firmware on the controller?

Settings > System > Update Controller

You'll need a micro USB cable. If you have a phone that uses one, that cable might work. If you have a Play and Charge kit, use that cable.

 

thanks for the reply. I did update the firmware, but that did not fix the headset issue.

Sounds like either your headset or pad have a broke :-(

i had the same problem.

I think that as you plugg and unplugg the male and female connection on the headset and pad becomes loose and stops working.

I went and brought a new headset and tried on my day one pad and it still never worked

So i went back to the shops and got a new pad plugged the headset into the new pad and bingo it worked.

This same thing has happened to two of my freinds as well!

so this time round i havent unplugged the headset from the pad at all !

ans it still works fine.

You could ring support on(0800 5871103)

But you would be without your pad wile its repaired and i think you have to pay the shipping

Or same thing if its your headset.

 

Thanks for the tips. I guess I never really assumed the pad would go out. I should take the headset into bestbuy and test it on one of the demo systems they have in the store then buy a new controller or headset depending on if it works on The store de,mo
system.

Anyone with experience mailing in. Controllers for service? Howl long does it typically take?

 

BOught a stereo headset as well as a new controller. wouldn't you know- the old headset works fine with the new controller and the new headset doesn't work with old controller.

Problem- DEAD controller headset port.

 

So there is no way to repair a broken controller out of warranty, all I can do online is buy a replacement for $70...

How did other people mail in their controllers for repair?
