Xbox One Chat Headset Mic Not Working.

My Xbox One Chat Headset recently stopped working properly. I can hear everything through it as normal, it isn't muted, I'm not accidentally in game chat, and the volume is all the way up, and I have no problem starting a party. However, the microphone no
longer picks up my voice and so no one can hear me as my voice is not going through. Any suggestions on what to do?

xobx stereo headset adapter on PC

I have an older xbox one controller with no audio jack. I use it on a windows 10 PC. I purchased the stereo headset adapter however mic audio is not working. The PC sees both a headset and mic and I can hear audio through the headset. Mic audio seems as
if it's muted. I have tried multiple headsets, the controller was updated on my friends Xbox One but still get no audio. Chat rep said there's no mic audio at this time but it's coming soon? Is this true? Anyone else have an adapter and is it working normally?

Hi, have the exact same problem with 2 different headsets. I tried everyy trick I could find to fix it. One thing worked for a bit. Here's what worked for me (for a while only though.) I plugged the mics into the controllers and updated the controllers.
This worked for a while but they eventually stopped working again. I can hear the party but I can not talk back. They aren't muted and volume functions properly. Bought a brand new headset and it works great. Had to start 2 service orders for the faulty ones.
Shipping them both to repair center out of own pocket.. Apparently MS won't pay for the initial shipping. Still cheaper than buying new headsets.

There's no update available anymore for my controllers to try this process again. I suggest calling support and getting the work order started. I don't think accessories are covered for as long as the console is. Good Luck

Hello, I am posting as I have a similar problem with my sons machine.We recently bought and adapter which charges the controller, ( to save on batteries).In the last week he has explained that the microphone on his headset is not picking up his voice.This
is visible as the picture on the creen with his "gamer tag" doesn't flash up when he is talking.However, he said it occasionally works if he lifts his arm up in the air ???. Also his friends have said that in the last week there is a crackling buzzing sound
coming when he tries to speak, so he has had to put it on mute.Tonight we took off the re-charge unit, and put batteries in and the mic statred working OK.However there is still a slight buzzing noise.Is it a faulty recharge unit , or is there a deeper issue
do you think ?

Same. My headset was working just fine yesterday and now i can hear the game perfectly, but now i cant hear party chat. Whenni take the cord out and put it back in i hear chat for a split second then i cant

@SnazzyBook0289 Sounds like a short in the wire, more than likely needs to be replaced. The mic making a slight buzz while the controller is charing is normal. As far as batteries and charge kit, I used to buy re-buy the play charge kits more than once a
year (for xbox 360) if it gives out on you I recommend that you buy rechargeable AA's I haven't had to replace them in at least 2 years. (except the 1 or 2 batteries I lost). If you need future/further assistance you should create your own thread to get the
best help tailored to your exact needs.

Had the same problem I think, to my understanding when you talk in party/gamechat your circle doesn't move indicating you aren't talking. But you can hear people just fine. I have had this problem for months but have been out of xbox lately partly because
of it. My kinect works fine but I hate using it as it can be hard to hear people properly. As of now to my knowledge there is no fix. (I had a thread about it for a while had 40 or so post but kind of lost interest in keeping it up, and until they locked it
still had people messaging me on xbox asking for a fix).

I have the Xbox One Stereo Headset this also happened to me just a while ago was working fine 3 hours ago and then it just cuts off. I went and bought another adapter thinking that was the problem but no. The Audio is fine on the headset but when i try to
talk, no one can hear me. This is Aggravating. I was invited to the Preview program recently so maybe that's the problem.

The mic that came with the Xbox one works. My adapter chat button makes the game volume higher. Is it suppose to be like that?

The "mic" you're referring to is the boom mic that plugs into the headset.

The mic I'm referring to is the chat system that allows one to talk to other players. Normally, that's supported by a wired mic cable that goes from the 360 controller to other headsets. On all other 360 headsets, a cable is required from the base of the
360 controller to the headset for chat. Even the wireless Astro A50 has a mic cable port to go to the 360 controller.

On the Tritton Warhead, that's all done wirelessly, same as the Microsoft Wireless Mic for 360 works. Tritton integrated the wireless mic into the headset base unit so that the headset can be completely wireless - no wired mic cable going to the controller.

It's the wired mic cable that the Tritton Warhead lacks that is the problem. There will be no way for the Warhead's base unit to sync its wireless mic with the Xbox One.

If all you want to do is use the Warhead as a wireless headset without a mic, it will be fine. If you want mic support, it won't.

I'm actually having the same problem since the update. Party chat, both in game (Neverwinter) and Xbox's Party Chat app, disconnect my mic on my headset. The headset and mic both work in party chat before someone joins but as soon as someone connects with
me they hear me for only a second and then it disconnects my mic. It's not muted. It works fine in Skype. I've tried partying with different users. I've tried updating the controller and headset adapter but no updates available. I've tried different controllers.
I've tried different headsets as well and the only headset that will work is the crappy one that came with the Xbox. I've hard reset the console. I've gone into every setting imaginable and still no go. Any help would be immensely appreciated.

This question/conversation is not about the physical boom mic, it's about the chat audio.

That said, there's no reason that the headset should work but not the mic, except maybe the protocols.

It's the wireless
protocol that won't work.

this wireless headset? The only thing this wireless headset does is handle chat conversations between other Xbox Live members. You don't get regular game audio through it. To function, the wireless headset pairs with the 360 console and runs over the same
wireless protocol as 360 controllers. Tritton integrated the functionality of that wireless headset into their own. The Warhead's base station has a pairing button, just like the wireless headset. The base station takes care of mixing the chat audio and the
game audio, but without that pairing to the 360 there's no way to get chat audio into the base station.

Microsoft explicitly stated that the wireless protocol between the Xbox One and its accessories is different than the protocol used by 360 accessories. Because the wireless headset uses these same protocols, it won't work on the Xbox One. By extension, the
wireless pairing that the Warhead does with the 360 console won't work with the Xbox One console.

The Tritton Warhead is a headset designed for use only with the Xbox 360. Without a 360 console, it becomes a regular set of headphones, rendering the boom mic useless. If all you want to do is listen to game audio, that's not a dealbreaker.
If you want to talk to other gamers in realtime, you're looking at buying a new headset.

Astro? Turtle Beach? Their wireless headsets will work with the Xbox One, including their mics, because they all currently plug into the 360 controller for chat audio. The controller handles the wireless link to the 360 for the chat audio, but from the audio
port on the controller to the headset is all bog standard 2.5mm headset territory. MS is working on an adapter to allow older 360-compatible headset cables to attach to the new Xbox One controller, again allowing headsets to piggyback on the controller for
chat audio. The Warhead? Out of luck. No cable, no piggyback.

It's this tight coupling to the 360's wireless protocol for chat audio that caused me to ignore the Warhead's development and shipment to market. As soon as I saw that it was bound to the 360, I said this is going to end badly for a $300 headset. My Astro
A40s with a Mixamp 5.8? My friend's Astro A50s? They'll both be fully functional with the Xbox One.
