Xbox one char adapter wiring problems

Is any one else having problems with the adapter in my experience its a terrible product that is in need of revision or maybe just the wiring i just bought my 3rd adapter as the 2.5 to 3.5 cord keeps shorting out and just stops working and yes i know i
can send it in and get a new one but not going 3 or 4 weeks wothout my headset im just wandering if anyone else has this problem

Was it the official Xbox 360 or Xbox One controller? For the Xbox 360 wireless controller, an adapter is required. For Xbox One, the original Xbox One controller will only work when wired. For the One S controller, you can connect it via bluetooth.

For those who don't know, you can still use your xbox 360 headsets on the Xbox One. That's great since I don't want to spend another hundred bucks on a headset that will only be used for one console.

I would suggest zip tying the two ends together. Was the first thing I did when I saw the extra length in the cable adapter. Without the cable support near the connectors I knew it would be just a matter of time before the enamel would wear inside the cable.
So make a small loop with the 3.5mm pointing one way and the 2.5mm the other and secure them together with a wide enough zip tie and you should be golden.

 

i just buy a different wire from amazon.. buht now no one can here me buht i can hear them...

 

To OP: Unforunately, it's not as simple as sending your cable in for replacement. I sent mine in thinking, and being told, the same thing. I explained to the first support person that the (Official) Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter was comprised of 3 total
parts, as listed on the side of the box. 1.) Headset Adapter 2.) USB Cable 3.) 2.5mm to 3.5mm Audio Jack Adapter. I informed them that my Headset Adapter and my 2.5 to 3.5mm cable were in need of replacement. The repair order was made and I boxed & shipped
them the 2 aforementioned faulty parts. 2-3 weeks later, I receive the replacement from MS. I open the box and find in it a Headset Adapter and a USB Cable. I figured it must've been a mistake and I'd just ask them to send me the correct cable. After my issue
was bumped up to the Escalated Support Team, I receive a call from a very nice support lady. She quickly understood what my problem was and tells me that unfortunately, Microsoft doesn't replace the 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable, and that she had seen other customers
with the same issue as me.

So now I have half a Headset Adapter that I can't use without the cable. Oh, and now I have 2 USB cables that can sit in a drawer for a few years!!! I'm not complaining about the support I received. Everyone I talked to was trying to be as helpful as they
could be. I was reimbursed the value in the form of Gold subscriptions. What I'm blown away by is the fact that Mocrosoft won't replace their own product. And they won't sell you the cable by itself. So basically, you are forced to either buy a third party
cable and hope that it works, or just buy a whole new Headset Adapter, which is likely what I'm gonna end up doing.

I even asked them if I could trade my 2 USB cables for just 1 adapter cable, but they wouldn't trade with me Shame on you Microsoft, Shame on you!!!!

 

I dropped my controller and it partially severed the adapter cable. I have spent hours trying to track down an adaptor in the UK that would work to no avail. MS have agreed to replace it if I send in the cable and adaptor but it took some hassle on twitter
and chat for them to agree. In the meantime I have had to fork out for another adaptor.

There are reports of a Nokia adaptor that could work or at least convert the TTY to OMTP and then use an easily sourced OMTP to CTIA adaptor but a lot of these proprietary adaptors don't have any pinouts accessible on the internet. There are also a couple
of TTY to smartphone adaptors on Amazon US that look like they could work but it's a risk.

I have bought a TRRS Jack from Maplin to have a go at soldering my own but the contacts look tiny for my ham fisted soldering skills.

If MS made them available for a few quid I would buy three or four no problem
