Xbox one "capture" feature

When I use the "record what happened" feature on the Xbox one, it only records 11-15 sec of the clip. Sometimes it doesn't "capture" at all. It doesn't matter if I choose 30 sec capture or a 5 min capture, it doesn't record past 11-15 sec. How would I
go about even attempting to fix this?

What is you xbox os build?

and the insider build have the problem too,

And you can check your hdd

or try use the usb hdd to save DVR.

Check if the game you are playing allows screenshots, as in some games it is not possible to take screenshots.

I do use a capture card as well as stream live to twitch but not from the xbox one. the capture card i use is hauppauge hdpvr. I also use turtle beach x42...i started this thread so microsoft will see that they left out a important feature....i hope they
do fix it soon

The short answer is that the Xbox One has to be turned on because it isn't technically a 'passthrough'.

A bit more lengthy answer is that the signal has to be captured by the Xbox One in order to process the input signal. If it were a straight passthrough, many of the TV features wouldn't be available through the Xbox One.

It appears that the capture location for your external drive is saved to GameDVR folder and XboxCapture copies folder. When copying multiple copies it goes directly to Xbox Capture Copies folder while captures clip is directly saved to GameDVR folder.

The GameDVR folder in external storage is a folder that contains the game clips and screenshots that you have recorded using the Xbox Game DVR feature on your console. The Game DVR feature allows you to capture your gameplay moments and share them with your friends or on social media. After recording clips, your external drive can now be plugged into a PC, where the traditional video files can be extracted.
