  1. Xbox One: BOTH wireless controllers stop responding after a few minutes

So I have an Xbox One (OS version 10.0.18363.8124) and two identical wireless controllers (model 1537). Today I turned it all on, but after several minutes of playing both controllers stopped working simultaneously. It looks like this: I see stuff happening
on the screen, I see controllers lit up (therefore, I assume, those are still connected), but nothing I do on any of the two controllers reflects in any way on the screen, no key presses or joystick movements - nothing. I rebooted the console (via a 10 second
press on the power button), that helped, but again - after few minutes controllers died, both of them, in the same fashion. I tried re-binding the controllers to the console, then rebooted the console - again, that only helped for a few minutes, 5 or so. I
re-entered passwords to both accounts on the console, to be sure they are both authenticated - did not help in any way. I even changed all the batteries in both controllers, which predictably did not help, but just to be sure.

All in all now I cannot use my Xbox one anymore, not longer than a minute or two anyway. What should I do, any ideas?

P.S. My attempts to contact support failed, too: I end up in some chatbot window, where it gives me one button, pressing which I end up on the first page of the support again - brilliant.

    :)

"As far as I can tell it is set to automatically update, as well currently it seems to say that no updates are available. Maybe there's a way to force an update or something? "

You have the latest General Availability OS build, so you can't force a further update.

To check setting for automatic update go to System>Settings>System>Updates & downloads and see if you have enabled it.

Also check your controller firmware version again at System>Settings>Devices & Streaming>Accessories >... to ensure you now have the latest version applicable to your setup. Perhaps you need to run the controller firmware update again.

"So yesterday I found a USB cord, plugged the controllers (one by one) to the console, and successfully updated their software (firmware? whatever) from v1.1.400 to v2.3.238

"discovering that controllers have their own update-able software (jeezas, whyyy?) and understanding that I have never updated seemed like the perfect fit for a reason of failure"

"Finally, another argument in favor of the controllers being fine is that those work like a charm (i.e., we haven't seen them shutting down yet) when connected with the USB wire."

Curious that the OS version build your console has installed, the latest,
as my controller firmware version is 4.8.1923.0. ... and always connected via uSB.

Depending on how you let your console do system updates, automatically (Instant on) or manually, as I do, you may not have seen a notification to update the controller firmware.

I had at least 2-3 banners pop up immediately after a System updates, but that was a few months ago, and many updates since.

Follow the steps in this link to Update your controller firmware
    .

Using the plug and play uSB cable is my preference and make sure you do it on all controllers.
    Thanks for your recommendation!

So yesterday I found a USB cord, plugged the controllers (one by one) to the console, and successfully updated their software (firmware? whatever) from v1.1.400 to v2.3.238 - and I sort of thought that was it, because after that the controllers worked as
before, no issues, for an hour or two, so I happily called it a night.

Today, however, those worked for about an hour and died again, just like before. Both. Out of the blue.

    So... next idea, please?

Alright, so yesterday I went again to System>Settings>System>Updates & downloads and kaboom! somhow there was an update available for the console, which I applied, now I am at 10.0.18363.8131 (19h1_release_xbox_dev_1911.191213-0400). Seems like
some kind of a minor update to me, despite ~400MB download. Checked whether there were any controller updates afterwards - but no, nothing... Will continue observing how controllers behave now, and will update here if anything interesting happens!

Here's my console's OS version: 10.0.18363.8124 (19h1_release_xbox_dev_1911.191202-1836). As far as I can tell it is set to automatically update, as well currently it seems to say that no updates are available. Maybe there's a way to force an update or something?

Also, my console is the older version. Didn't find any model numbers therein to specify precisely (which is weird, as even the controllers have model numbers), but my console is the one that looks like this:

Except I have two identical controllers, as said before. Also, I did not mention that yet, but in case that matters, I also have Kinect.
