    Xbox One boots to black screen, occasionally makes it to safe mode.


    So my Xbox one S boots to a black screen, no signal detected. I can sometimes get it to boot to safe mode after 6 or so attempts and restarts. I factory reset once and ran OSU 1 once. Both times it downloaded, verified then rebooted to a no signal detected
    screen.

    First off, I'm sure you've already done it but go ahead and hard reset your xbox and unplug it for 30second or a few minutes. If you've already done it, don't worry about this step. . Start the xbox back up (it may give you a signal again) and start a program
    or something, get the fans running really quick. Quit all programs once that is done and then press the power button to shut off. I assume you're using a usb or external harddrive? Some people need a second pair of hands for this step. You want to hold down
    the sync and eject buttons at the same time, (on the s i don't remember where eject is try left side) while pressing the buttons at the same time you need to hit the power button. When you hear the fans turn on there should be (one if no usb connected yet)
    two beeps, release the buttons. ^Make sure your OSU isn't connected to any ports at this point^. Idk if you're swapping drives from another system or using a corrupt file downloads. Take the osu device and connect it to a usb on the xbox and if the files are
    downloaded correctly, you should have a greyed out 'Offline system update' that you should be able to access after connecting usb.

    If this doesn't work, try flushing out your usb and using a new file or different drive.

    I greatly appreciate the response and your time. I cannot open or close any program, it boots to no signal. After installing OSU1 I have got it to consistently make it to safe mode, aka pressing the Xbox button and signal button simultaneously. I was able
    to get it to "finish updating". Then, it went to a screen asking for the language and region, then 720p or 1080p. I selected 1080 for the TV it works on. And it booted back to no signal and black screen. So I ran it again, this time selecting 720p. However,
    the same result. I'm guessing the HDD is fried.

    Hey guys. I'm going through the same thing as you. Off and on this week my xbox takes long to boot up.(just under 2 mins to be exact.) It sits at the green screen for about 20 secs and then goes to black for a full minute. I'm in power saving mode which
    is the only mode the boot time seems to be affected in.

    It boots instantly in instant on mode but i prefer using power saving to reduce wear and tear on the console.
