  1. Xbox One boot up

    Hey Xbox,

So ironically, the morning of your big E3 conference that included the announcement of your new Xbox One S I have had problems with my Xbox One console's boot up. Not to say that they are related in any way, but let me explain to you what's going on.

So when I turn my xbox on, my television's screen remains black for about 10-15 minutes with the HDMI tag in the top right corner of the screen indicating that there is nothing plugged into the port. When I finally get picture, the Xbox green loading screen
emerges and it engages in un ending loading... I believe people are referring to it as the Green Screen of Death. I have not however seen the black error messaged screen that many other people online have claimed to have received after they get locked in the
Green Screen like I am experiencing.

I did visit your site and using a flash drive I installed one of the manual updates to it so I could try that. However I also failed to get the console to boot up through the flash drive to commence any updates using the 3 button method where I guess you
hold the sync button and eject button, and then tap the power button...?

I have trouble shot my Power supply multiple times. The orange and white lights, as well as power to the console itself is not an issue at all.

The white power button at the front of the console also works properly. I can turn on the console, turn it off, and perform a hard reset no problem.

I'm not convinced my TV has problems either, because it also serves as my computer monitor which I am using to message you right now. I have even switched the HDMI ports used for my computer and Xbox and they both work fine...

So, if there is a solution at all that will allow me to fully boot up the console so that it is usable that would be preferable as I would like to get it back into working order for a friend who may be interested in purchasing it after I buy the new S model.
    ;D

I appreciate the time and the help.

G'day tthekinged! What power settings do you have enabled on your console? If your power mode is set to Energy-saving, then the console will take longer to start up (as you describe) than if it is set to Instant-On.

    Xbox One boot up

    Hi

Sorry to hear you're having issues with your Xbox starting. If it's stuck on the green screen then it's likely not a power issue of any kind. Follow

    this link
to troubleshoot your start up issues with the "Green Screen". If you do make it to the point that you need to run the OSUDT too, make sure you hear the audio queue that it sees your USB drive.

    This link
shows all the steps with video instructions.

    Hope this helps!

    Xbox One booting up problem

Hi, sorry for the issue you've been experiencing.

Try these troubleshooting steps below to see if they can get your issue sorted.

    • Power cycle your Xbox One console.
    • Try a different HDMI cable
    • Try a different HDMI port in your TV
    • Try steps within our blank TV screen troubleshooter
    • Refresh your display settings.
      • If there’s a disc in the Xbox One console, eject it.
      • On the console, press and hold the Xbox button for five seconds to turn off the console.
      • Press and hold the Xbox button and the Eject button until you hear a beep to turn on the console.
    • Clear persistent storage in Blu-ray settings. (Settings > Blu-ray > Click Clear Persistent Storage)
    If the above doesn't work:

    1. Switch the console off and unplug the power cable from the console and power supply from the wall for 15-20 mins.

    2. Connect everything back up and see if your console boots as it should. If it does, your display may be in low-resolution at this point.

    3. Go to settings.

    4. Select Display and Sound.

    5. Select TV Connection (auto-detect is best).

    6. Select the resolution you usually go with.

    7. Go back to settings.

    8. Select Power and Startup.

    9. Under Power Mode, select energy saving.

If the above steps worked, try changing your power mode back to instant-on (if that's what it was set to before) and see if everything is still okay or not.

If nothing here has helped, it would be best to contact support at http://support.xbox.com, select the category which applies to you and opt to speak to Microsoft Support.

Let me know how things work out, good luck - hope you get back to enjoying your console as soon as possible.
