    Xbox One boot up question

I've noticed that my console does not boot up the same as it used to. Normally when I turned it on the console starts on the Green Screen, then goes briefly to a black screen with the white xbox logo right in the center, and then finally to the dashboard.

Before: Green Screen > Black Screen (w/ xbox logo) > dashboard

Now: Green Screen > Black Screen (NO xbox logo) > dashboard

This sequence is mostly unchanged except that white xbox logo on a black screen is gone. Screen still goes briefly black before the dashboard, but no logo.

I've checked with a friend and he still gets that logo. We're both on OS Version 6.2.13332.0, and power-saver mode.

Is this something I should be concerned about? The console is otherwise functional, but my console got the green screen of death a few months ago, and the same thing more recently. I fixed it both times with the offline factory reset tool but then I noticed
that white logo no longer showed up during the booting sequence.

    Any help appreciated.

    :)

G'day tthekinged! What power settings do you have enabled on your console? If your power mode is set to Energy-saving, then the console will take longer to start up (as you describe) than if it is set to Instant-On.

  3. Xbox One boot up

    Hey Xbox,

So ironically, the morning of your big E3 conference that included the announcement of your new Xbox One S I have had problems with my Xbox One console's boot up. Not to say that they are related in any way, but let me explain to you what's going on.

So when I turn my xbox on, my television's screen remains black for about 10-15 minutes with the HDMI tag in the top right corner of the screen indicating that there is nothing plugged into the port. When I finally get picture, the Xbox green loading screen
emerges and it engages in un ending loading... I believe people are referring to it as the Green Screen of Death. I have not however seen the black error messaged screen that many other people online have claimed to have received after they get locked in the
Green Screen like I am experiencing.

I did visit your site and using a flash drive I installed one of the manual updates to it so I could try that. However I also failed to get the console to boot up through the flash drive to commence any updates using the 3 button method where I guess you
hold the sync button and eject button, and then tap the power button...?

I have trouble shot my Power supply multiple times. The orange and white lights, as well as power to the console itself is not an issue at all.

The white power button at the front of the console also works properly. I can turn on the console, turn it off, and perform a hard reset no problem.

I'm not convinced my TV has problems either, because it also serves as my computer monitor which I am using to message you right now. I have even switched the HDMI ports used for my computer and Xbox and they both work fine...

So, if there is a solution at all that will allow me to fully boot up the console so that it is usable that would be preferable as I would like to get it back into working order for a friend who may be interested in purchasing it after I buy the new S model.
    ;D

I appreciate the time and the help.

    Hey there General C34,

I am sorry you're experiencing this, I will try my best to get your issue resolved!

I would suggest doing a Power Cycle to your Xbox One. To do a Power Cycle visit this page:

    support.xbox.com/.../power-cycle-console

If you're still having an issue please comment back and I will see if there is another way Xbox One boot up question :)

I noticed this about two months ago. Many power cycles since so that's not the problem. I'm just wondering why I don't have the xbox logo on the black screen, while friends still do. Console still plays and everything.

I think I remember mine doing something like this. I've had mine in power-save mode since I figured out the memory issue back when it came out. I know what you are talking about, specifically when you're in power-save mode and it takes a while for the green
loading screen to load and then goes black for a short period of time. I think I remember sometimes not seeing the logo, and my Xbox has been working fine for a long time now.

So, I would say it is nothing to worry about, unless your Xbox starts acting up. Also, I would wait until the November Dashboard update comes out and then see if you still have this problem. If anything starts happening that affects gameplay or anything
else on your Xbox, I would contact support!

I never see the logo anymore. Reason I'm worried is that twice in 3 months the console got stuck at the green or black screen and I had to factory reset it. After the first time, I noticed that logo missing. So I've wondered, is the missing logo a sign that
the bigger problem is still there and eventually it'll freeze again?

I want to wait for that November update, but if my worries are correct and it freezes again, then I'm out of luck. Warranty expires November.

I have contacted support, and they told me it was normal. It's hard to be satisfied with that answer when my console got the black screen of death twice in three months. I can't help but feel that something is still wrong and will go wrong again. I guess
I don't have much choice but to wait and see.

I read the black screen of death is caused by a problem during an update, but on both occasions there was no update. The first time I had just downloaded battlefield 4, and the second was when the star wars battlefront beta was failing to start so I tried
to restart (but it didn't). Obviously these games are basically the same thing and known for their bugs, could they be responsible for my console not starting those times?

It is more than likely not a problem with any of the games. I would just play it easy for a little while and wait for the next Title update. This should fix your problem with your xbox booting up. Sorry there isn't really anything more I can offer that might
be the cause. Unless you using an External HD, I would try disconnecting it and restarting to see if that does anything differently.
