    Xbox One Bluetooth connections


    Hey All

    so our Xbox One is not wanting to connect to our controllers or headset via bluetooth. It will if you connect with a usb but it wont stay synced once disconnected. We put it through a power cycle, updated the controllers and headset, and changed batteries
    out. We even tried the power cycle while controller is connected and powering down just the controller powering it back on a tried connecting it that way to no luck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. BTW not sure if this matters but we got the
    gears of war edition xbox one

    Are you talking about connecting controllers to the PC?

    With a USB bluetooth adapter, you can connect one Xbox One S controller to the computer. Bluetooth connectivity requires your computer to be running Windows 10 (with the Anniversary update).

    There is no Bluetooth radio component in the Xbox One S console itself.

    The controllers connect to the Xbox One S the same way the controllers connect to the original Xbox One: proprietary RF. You could technically connect an Xbox One S controller to an original Xbox One, and an original Xbox controller to the Xbox One S.

    The Bluetooth functionality in the new Xbox One S controller is specifically made for connecting the controller to a Windows 10 PC with the "Anniversary" update, which has the drivers needed for the controller when connected via Bluetooth.

    Yes, absolutely.

    In case there's confusion, the Bluetooth part in the controller is only for connecting it to a Windows PC. Bluetooth is not used on the Xbox One S, as the console does not actually have a Bluetooth chip.

    The Xbox One S controller still connects to the console with the same wireless protocol as any standard Xbox One controller.

    It even works vice versa! You can also connect a regular Xbox One controller to an Xbox One S.
