Xbox One, Blu-Ray and degraded (grainy) picture quality

I've noticed that since the last update on the BRD app, the picture quality has been degraded. To be exact, the quality seems grainy, and it seems like 720p instead of 1080p.

It's not my TV, because my PS4 and standalone BRD player don't have this issue.

    :)

    Blu Ray Quality?

Does anyone else have issues with the Blu Ray playback quality, I think mine is really grainy and a step down from my standalone Blu Ray player, I was going to do away with it and just use the XBO but not so sure now? Or is it my imagination?? Also
in the Blu Ray settings there is a check box for 24hz can anyone explain what that is please?

    Blu Ray Quality?

Yes, it is a step-down in quality, though making adjustments can help. But then, it's an in-built blu-ray player so the quality was never going to be quite as a good as a standalone, dedicated player. My blu-ray player is worth £100 (managed to snag it for
£50 during a sale) and the picture quality is considerably better than what the Xbox One can produce, although it's worth noting I'm a bit of a movie nutter and a lot of people probably won't even notice the difference.

Still, it's a good way of people getting on-board with blu-ray films and the like.

I'll be continuing to use my stand-alone player :)

Anyone else notice a issue with DVD playback?

I only ever tried one dvd. Never again.

Picture quality was horrible like it wasnt even upscaled. And lip lync was off. Blu rays are fine though

    4k support

The Blu-rays that say Mastered in 4K will have a better overall picture than those that aren't. I don't see that they cost anymore, at least from Amazon. Sony previously did this with a line of pristine masters of DVD's some years ago. Here is the marketing
    speak:

The Blu-ray “Mastered in 4K” collection will set a new standard for Blu-ray HD picture and sound, creating the ultimate 1080p home entertainment experience. Created from the highest quality 4K source materials with new expanded color*, consumers can enjoy
a brilliant picture with exquisite detail using their existing Blu-ray player or PlayStation®3. The Blu-ray “Mastered in 4K” collection is optimized so that 4K Ultra HD TV owners can take full advantage of the new 4K upscaling technology, delivering an outstanding
near-4K experience. “Mastered in 4K” Blu-rays also work with all 1080p HDTVs for spectacular high definition picture and sound.

*Expanded color requires xvYCC-compatible TV and Blu-ray player

    Why “Mastered in 4K” Blu-ray?

    • Get the best Blu-ray picture possible, mastered from 4K source materials

    • Push your TV to the limit with a high bitrate digital transfer for an immersive visual experience

    • Ideal solution for new 4K TV owners and great for Blu-ray collectors

Notice the "near 4K" phrase? In any case they should look better when played back on equipment that will utilize the high bitrate of the disc.
