Xbox One Black Screen

How many people here that have the problem have minecraft? Please like the post. Thinking this may be causing the issue.

 

My freezes seem to come from my local save games. If you can get back into the menus, even if it is slow, you can clear the local saved games and they should resync from the cloud. It is under the system menu.

 

Can't even get to the menus it will not go past the green screen

 

I had the green screen startup straight to the black screen happen to my Xb1 the other day from out of the blue and I was directed to the Offline System Update Diagnostic Tool through the evaluation process in support. Because I had updates before and not
a new XB1 I tried the OSUDT2 file from the
support.xbox.com/.../offline-system-update-diagnostic-tool page. After downloading the file onto the USB flash drive I tried going through the process of doing the update from that. It would recognize the console and prepared it for the update, but when
the update was being applied it loaded halfway with the green progress bar and jumped to 3/4 of the way done and then froze. This isn't good because I've read that if you power it off here it might brick your xbox. After this happening twice I decided to do
a complete restore of the factory defaults even though this meant I would be starting from scratch (ever have to do this on a windows machine before?). This worked for me as the process went through and I was back up and running faster than I thought. I hope
this helps everyone with this issue because it was not a fun process. If you have any questions let me know.

 

Similar problem here. Have done all the usual reboot stuff and nothing. THIs has happened out of the blue. Everything was working fine until today...and not being techy - have no idea where to begin...is there no official answer to these problems or do
we have to pay for them?

 

We have to pay for a repair and no guarantee from Microsoft that if you shell out £115 for a repair it won't happen again next time you do an update

 

Some people need to really take a deep breath and chill. It isn't the end of the world. This just happened to one of my 3 Xbox One systems. Wife showed me on FaceTime it was stuck at the green screen and not going to Home. I came home and let it sit and
it showed the black screen. If you have Kinect you can still give commands but it will pop up with a message saying need to sign into Xbox Live.

This isn't a guranteed fix for everyone but it fixed my issue. I have two external hard drives connected in the rear of my One. I disconnected power from both drives and did a full power reset. Xbox One came on like normal. I had linked my previous issue
to my externals before whenever I would start my system from standby I would get apps and games taking too long to load. I also couldn't complete installation of games on my external or my internal until I restored the system and removed the external. Both
situations go back to what might just be one or two bad external drives. I have external drives connected on my other two systems. They are brand new externals. The system with issues has externals I formatted from being used with my gaming PC.

So anyone with external drives try and removed your external and completely power your system down for the initial startup. Hope this helps.
