    Xbox One, black screen and returning to menu - Solution


    Hello People,

    A few weeks ago I came across a problem regarding some of my games.

    I didn't get a error message or anything, the only thing I got was my game booting up and sending me back to the dashboard. I've tried a lot of things, ultimately I came to the conclusion that every game works when you get the console right.

    Having that in mind I thought to myself, why not do a factory reset just to test if it works? I didn't want to lose all my downloaded data, fortunately Microsoft gives you the option to do a factory reset while keeping your games. Tried it out and voila,
    it worked!

    This also seems to work with games getting the error code : 8027025A.

    Problem:

    Games booting up with black screen and returning to the dashboard.

    Solution:

    Use factory reset (keeping your games).

    Blank screen of death???

    Right I have an issue. Just powered on my xbone it went to the home screen as per usual and I started playing killer instinct. I pressed the xbox button to return home and the screen goes blank and an xbox symbol pops up in the right hand corner. I have the xbox running through an amp and as im moving the stick on the controller about I can hear that it is moving around the menus. Press the xbox button to return to game and picture comes back. So I finish up playing and go home and the same thibg happens screen is black but I can hear if I move the controller stick about it is def on the home screen going through the menus. I can do voice commands and everything works bar having a black screen when at home. Tried switching it off amd on and its exactly the same.
    Anyone else had this issue???

    Have you held in the power button for 7 seconds to force a full reboot?

    How odd. It should've worked, actually. :/

    Because the solution for the black screen is to restore using the troubleshooting menu.

    Could you try one more time, by following step by step, please, mate?

    State of Decay 2 Black Screen at Base Screen

    I have found a way to correct the situation temporarily. If the base screen starts going black then press the XBox button. This will bring up a menu and the base screen will return.

    But if you exit out at this point the screen goes dark again. So, you have to use the menu to scroll down to State of Decay 2. Press the button with three lines. Pick manage game. At this point you should be able to back out of all menus and the base screen
    will remain.

    Same thing here with my 2nd console (I returned 1st for having controller disconnect issues). 2nd console I returned for this same issue plus controller disconnect issue. People will try to tell you it is an HDMI handshake issue, but its not. Total black
    screen, but audio works perfectly. Same thing happens to my brother (black screen). Only solution is to reboot.

    I have a screen dimming issue also..but I have only spotted it on the "settings" menu's. sometimes they will dim, but are still usable, but most times the settings are inaccessible because the screen goes black, I can hit the back button and return to a
    previous screen and my picture will come up again..very strange..not affecting gameplay though, only settings menu.

    Sleeping Beauty blu-ray will not play on Xbox One

    If anyone is looking for this solution you can skip the first un-rendered commercials that are black screens by pressing b to get the menu. Then you can select to go to the menus and use scene select to play the movie.
