Xbox One Black (2013) controller not working with PC

I have a xbox wireless controller black (2013) that I am trying to plug into my PC (windows 10). I plug it into my Xbox and there are no issues, however, when I plug it into my computer and it doens't recognize it. It won't power on, there are no dings saying new device plugged in, or anything. I have turned the controller on while plugged into the computer and hit the connect button but it still won't find it. I have repeated this step while plugged into every USB port (including the ones where the mouse/keyboard are plugged in and working). Everything I have read says the computer should recognize it, even if it doesn't work and needs driver updates. My computer just isn't seeing it at all. Any thoughts on this?

This is usually because for some reason the cable used does not communicate correctly between the controller and the PC. I already had 1 cable that didn't work with my 2 controllers from different generations and another that worked perfectly. Test another cable with the controller and check for updates on Windows Update, update everything including optional/additional updates, restart your PC to apply updates, and try again.

The product code you gave her identical, but any Xbox controller from 2013 and after will work on any Xbox Console from 2013 on up

I am happy with my black version, however, considering it is a day one edition I do feel they could have put the same "day one 2013" logo that is on the controller on the xbox itself. Like how the dev team got the "I made this" on their white versions.

Based on your description of the issue, the problem may lie with the black controller's internal hardware or firmware.

It's very odd that only the black one is not working on the Xbox One even after doing everything you've listed. To be honest, I would say it is the audio jack in the controller but you've stated it works when connecting to your PC and it also doesn't even
work through the chat pad, which is the workaround like using the Xbox One stereo headset adapter.

Apologies but all I can recommend at this point is to replace the controller or just use your white controller because you've done all of the troubleshooting that I think is possible for this situation.

Yes MS have stated that uou can have 8 controllers on one xbox. I wonder how that will work.
