Xbox One Bku Ray Player App

I have had regular trouble with my xbox one (original, not the one -s) playing blu rays, as in most EVERY blu ray I try to play does not work and gives me the error message (0x80820002) The more recently released the harder time I have getting them to work. This has been a problem for the entire time I have had my xbox one which is 6 years or more, so.much so that I have just given up trying to get them to work. Some dvds work but not all movies will have that extra copy.

I've tried hard-reseting my console, power cycling, looking at other Microsoft posts for answers and nothing works. I load the disc but it doesn't start the blu ray player, when I manually click the player it gives an error that says make sure a blu ray disc is inserted.

Anybody have any solutions?

Thank you for contacting the Xbox support forums and for providing the error code you are receiving. This error code applies when your console has failed to properly read the disc in the drive. It also sounds as though you have already attempted the troubleshooting suggestions that can be found at Troubleshoot problems playing a disc. It is possible that it may be a hardware problem within the console itself.

If you have not done so already, I would suggest visiting Getting your Xbox device serviced for information regarding console repairs and to check to see if your console is still under warranty.

To watch DVD's or Blu-rays on your Xbox One you need to have the Blu-ray Player App installed and up to date!

You can set the App to install from your Xbox Store by searching for it or here: Blu-ray Player App

Set up and install the Blu-ray and DVD player app on Xbox

To watch Blu-ray or DVD movies on your Xbox console, you first need to install the Blu-ray Player app. To install the app, choose one of the following options.

Press the Xbox button to open the guide, select Home, and then select Store.

Select Search and enter Blu-ray in the search bar. Select the Blu-ray Player app when it appears in the list of results.

Select Install to download and install the app.

Insert a Blu-ray or DVD disc into your Xbox.

Select the Blu-ray Player app when it appears.

On the Blu-ray Player app details page, select Install.

Your disc should start playing automatically.

After the app is installed, you can watch Blu-ray or DVD movies by inserting the disc into your Xbox console and selecting Blu-ray Player on the Home screen, or by finding it under My games & apps
