Xbox One Beta Tester

Iv'e been hearing quite a bit about this Xbox One Beta Tester and I'm wondering if someone could tell me all about it and hopefully I'll be interested in going about being a Beta Tester.

Beta Tester for Xbox Games?

I have never been a beta tester and I am not sure I would want to be one. I like just playing a game and if I had to stop playing to make notes I would be mad. I am not even sure what a beta tester does.

I am not sure how people get to be beta testers for games. My friend preordered SWTOR and got a chance to do some beta testing. I think before it was released, they did several waves of beta testers.

 

It's not actually called a beta as such, but the same in principle. It's the preview programme. You get to preview and test the console system updates before they are released to the general public. Being preview software, it can, and does often contain
bugs which can be problematic now and again. That's the risk you take though entering the programme. If you wan't I can send an invite for you but bear in mind it can take up to a week to receive your code, it's not an instant thing Brighttones.

Not everyone is selected into the programme, I might add.

How do the invites work? I've been a beta tester for the xbox 360 preview program for years, but I don't remember being able to invite anyone to participate.

 

You use the preview app Oni, which allows gamertag invites to be sent directly to Microsoft. The latest preview app contains announcements, mini surveys, bug reporting etc. Changed days from the old beta testing times.

 

Of course, will invite you now.

 

When i start the preview app, i only see exit button on black screen...Is it normal ? I got the message from MS yesterday and tried it first time...My gamertag is in US region but i am in Europe

 

No that's not normal. Was it the preview registration app you got or the newer preview dashboard app?

I've no idea why you should have an all black screen though.
