xbox one been awkward not installing a digital game aswell as disk isnt hdd or drive problem ...

i found out the hdd was dead. i bought a new one and used a program on windows to format the disk. my new problem is the offline update option isnt available. ive tried many flash drives yet with no outcome, "osu1" was installed on all of them and had been formatted to ntfs. is there any way to copy the os directly from the hdd?

He's installing it to a flash drive, not the HDD. It's only a problem if you install it to the HDD after installing disk one to it.

I have done research on this fully as have others . All the equipment is there for you to add a disk drive connectors etc. They just have a plate on the inside covering the place where a disk drive would be. However while adding a disk drive it just doesnt
work . Its not designed for it. There must be some internal thing preventing it. my question is why would you want to try to add a disk drive to one that doesnt have one. That is your only option and it doesnt work . Either trade it in for a normal xbox with
a disk drive. Why would you buy a all digital version if you wanted your prior games on there it just isnt possible. It has been tried by many and unfortunately none have gotten a disk drive to work in the all digital version nor does it make sense to keep
trying.

They have Edu. You can install your game from the disk straight to the HDD. You still need to have the disk in the drive tray, but you can use that feature if you wish. Also id suggested that you install all 3 disks of Rage to your HDD so you wouldn't
have to switch between all the disks, and for a boost in performance.

As for your second point, I think its a ways off before game devs make the switch to digital download only. They do that somewhat now with games on demand, but it will definitely be a while before it becomes mainstream. And typically the digital download
version is usually more expensive right now than actually buying the game disk, so until they adjust that some, it won't go mainstream. Only company that seems to have gotten some good traction on digital only has been Valve's Steam.

360 doesn't actually install games. It creates an image of the disk on the HDD, so the data is still compressed.

What JohnnyVonRotten meant was, all 360 games are designed to run off the disk. They have to function without the HDD. This is not a problem on the next-gen cos both Xbox One and PS4 games have to be installed.
