Xbox one, bbc iplayer access

BBC iPlayer is currently being developed for the Xbox One

Allowing SIlver users to access iPlayer goes against Microsoft's pricing structure.

Requiring Gold for access to iPlayer goes against the BBC's pricing structure.

There's no "fix" for this. MS isn't going to let Silvers access the streaming app. BBC isn't going to allow MS to charge for Gold to access the streaming app.

Just looked on the iplayer wiki page and all it says is that Microsoft have confirmed that bbc iplayer will be available on the Xbox one. Unfortunately, it doesn't say when.

This is not a feature at launch, but we recognise the demand for BBC radio programmes and will be making radio available in BBC iPlayer on Xbox 360 later in the year.

I just found this on the web, It's only a small section of a larger article but it may help explain the situation with iPlayer and the Xbox 360.

“This does not fit with the BBC’s model and Microsoft will not budge at the moment. It is really frustrating for those involved on the BBC side who want to make sure iPlayer is rolled out on as many popular entertainment platforms
as possible,” they added.

The BBC cannot charge the British public for access to the iPlayer as it is already included in the licence fee

So you see the problem is with charging the British public for the service and not everyone else. This could lead to complications with billing etc.
