    Xbox one backwards compatible chat with 360.


    Do I have to be actively playing a 360 game (while on my xbox one console) in order to chat with someone that is on a 360 console?

    Is it possible to just use the Xbox one party chat UI to chat with anyone I want?

    Only backwards compatible games as far as I know

    You would need to be playing a backwards compatible 360 version of a game on the xbox one in order to play with friends who are on a 360.

    As Battlefield 4 is available on the xbox one I wouldn't think the 360 version would be made backwards compatible.

    I don't believe that you can chat from one to 360

    You could try running the 369 HDMI through your Xbox one

    Yes, you must be using backwards compatibility to chat with friends on the 360. It is not possible to do it through the xbox one with the architectures of the systems being different.

    You do not have to be playing the same game, just any Backward Compatible game so the 360 interface loads. Press the View and Menu buttons on the Xbox One controller to open the 360 guide, and you can start a party chat from there. You could suggest/vote

    So long as you're within a Backward Compatible Xbox 360 game on your Xbox One you should be able to access Party Chat within the UI. We're always taking feedback for future updates on

    That's kinda lame. Seeing as how I have to start up a 360 game JUST to chat with some friends that don't have the cash to upgrade to xbox one.

    If it's backwards compatible it would only be available on the Xbox One as a backwards compatible game. Not on the 360
    There are backwards compatible games available for the 360. Black is one of them.

    I believe you can only do this via backwards compatible games. If you're on the Xbox One and playing a backwards compatible game, press the two buttons on either side of the Guide button, that will bring up the Xbox 360 guide. From that guide you'll be
    able to invite Xbox 360 players to a party chat, and also to join your game.

    Astro A50's not working in party chat or game chat on Backwards Compatible games

    Does the headset work on Xbox One Party chat (i.e. do you see a circle around your gamerpic in the party chat on Xbox One)?

    Are only Backwards compatible games affected? If so, it might be that the Astro A50 base station acts as a USB microphone, which doesn't work as Chat microphone on the Xbox 360.

    You might have to contact the Astro A50 support for information on how to use that headset on backwards compatible titles.
