Xbox One Backwards compatibility

So I had an idea for the new Xbox. I know the system has no plans for backwards compatibility but I feel like a lot of users are upset that their game collections will become obsolete over time. Right now I'm fine with just playing Xbox 360 games on my
360 but I'm just worried about the future. For example, what will happen if say 5 years from now my Xbox 360 breaks and there is no support to fix it and there goes all the games I loved to play. Well I thought couldn't the Xbox team create something like
an external disk drive that could be connected to the Xbox One that could play 360 games that would be sold as an optional accessory. I feel like it would boost sales for the object itself and for people who never had an Xbox 360 who could buy some of the
old games for it too. Just thought I'd share my idea and see what you thought.

:)

As much as that would be a good idea. It is a design nightmare.

-

You would need to have all the chips that currently are in an Xbox 360, within the drive shell. On a newly designed motherboard to fit the casing. Which would probably cost more than what current xbox 360's go for.

-

As you can actually pick new slim models up for £129.99, even cheaper used. (I have found a 250gb model on Amazon for £89.99 plus P&P) There is no real need for one. If you want to play 360 games, get a 360, and keep it for if your console ever goes down
on you. job sorted, and it's probably cheaper in the long run

external drive to play 360 games?? How about just buying another 360? 5 years from now they should be under $100.. I mean some places are already selling them that cheap.... buy one.. put it in the closet.. if yours breaks... well there you go

Lol... It's all good mate. I'm still grinning, as it's literally the funniest non-intentional thing I've read in ages. It's just one of those moments.
Just thought I'd share my idea and see what you thought.
This idea has been posited before. The Xbox 360 is such a box. It is as small as MS can make it. The Xbox One has no expansion bus which would make it possible to do
what you and others have proposed. USB 3.0 isn't suited to the task.

Eventually the 360 will be like any other obsolete console. Support will drop off. It's part of evolution. As for the demand for backward capabilities, why? How many Xbox games did you play on your 360?

I still have a working Atari 2600. If it broke tomorrow I could replace it for 40 bucks with another working one.

I think you have a while before you need to worry about the 360 becoming obsolete.
