Xbox One backwards compatibility

Is it possible to purchase an Xbox 360 backwards compatible game on an Xbox One without previously owning an Xbox 360? Can you buy an Xbox 360 game off the Xbox Online Store and download it on an Xbox One, or do you need to have previously owned an Xbox
360 to be able to use the service? I'm still fairly new to Xbox, and I don't know a lot about it yet! Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Ones that does 3 checks do require a registered 360 console

Gears 3 dungeon seige etc

Otherwise you just need a valid payment options on file to download from the website

For the best experience with live your account region must reflect your actual region or if you don't live in one you will experience issues downloading region locked content

 

For the ones that check for consoles region and actual region and account region you just need to register one purchase in a in region console for your region then it won't check again

 

What does the 3 checks mean, and where would I check that? I'm not really a technology expert...

It is not yet possible to buy 360 games directly on xbox one.

Does that mean I could buy Halo: Reach on Xbox.com and download it on my Xbox One, or is that not possible yet?

You can visit
marketplace.xbox.com/.../66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d8024d53085b and purchase Halo: Reach directly from there as long as your region permits it. Select "Download to 360" and then sign into your Xbox One, go to My Games and Apps, go to Games and scroll right
until your Ready to Install section is in view. You should see Halo: Reach available to download. Press the Menu button (Start) and click Install. Your backwards compatible game should begin downloading then.

You would be hard pressed to find a Halo reach code except on an Halo reach console

Most sites only sell the currency code

 

The codes would have to match your region also
