    Xbox One backward compatibility region lock


    I recently pre ordered Tekken 7, which came with a code for Tekken 6 on backward compatibility.

    When I tried to download, I was informed the game was not available in my region (I live in South Korea.)

    Is there a region lock on backward compat? If there is, shouldn't they at least get rid of a region lock if they're selling Xbox 360 games in bundles where that game isn't available?

    Xbox 360 games on an American Xbox One?

    The Xbox One console is region-free, hardware-wise.

    Anything concerning region will depend on your Xbox/Microsoft account settings. Xbox 360 titles, even through backward compatibility, still retain the region locks they originally had.

    So as long as your account is registered on your Xbox with your proper country set as the region, you SHOULD have no problem running the region-local CoD games on your console.

    I predownloaded Rare Replay and I'm kind of disappointed...

    The 360 itself was region locked, but the One is just emulating a 360, so it's possible it won't be region locked.

    Sorry to hear it. Unfortunately there is no work around for games that are not available in certain regions. The only way to try and get the lockout lifted is to petition your local government to allow the content.

    Convert GwG version of a game to physical ?

    If you were signed into the same account that you use on the Xbox One then as long as the game is backwards compatible it should just show up in your "ready to install" section of your Xbox One.

    Also, It should work as long as your the region that you are in is the same as the region for that game. Xbox 360 titles can be region locked.

    Thanks for reaching out to us here on the forums with this situation. I understand you're having trouble with a French disc not playing on backwards compatible on an Xbox One X. Unfortunately some content is region locked and may not be playable in all regions.
    You would need to get the version of the game that is compatible to be able to play it.
