    Xbox one Auto Update NEVER works


    I am getting really sick and tired of microsofts broken console Xbox one. I dont know how many hours and days I have lost to this. I selected this option as soon as it came avaiable and seen it working for Rocket League. However Ghost Recon spent all day
    installing and i left it on all night in case it needed to auto update the game or games. But nope. Fire it up the next morning and I have to wait again because it just realized after all this time that it does indeed need an update of hours. And now yesterday
    I bought halo 5 guardians spent ALL day installing. Left it on all night again. And boom here this morning it says halo 5 needs an 51.8gb update. Great. Another wasted day I wont be able to play thanks to broken Xbox auto update. Oh and there's a console
    update to install too that is also set to auto update. I'm beginning to think of Microsoft as the new Sega. Broken company making broken products.

    Xbox One Automatic Annoying Updates

    Seems like its either not downloading the updates while you have the XB1 off or you are leaving it on in which case its not going to update until you turn it off your message isnt entirely clear in that regard. Considering you said you "normally do not turn my Xbox One however"

    If you turn the XB1 off with auto update on it will update. If you dont turn the XB1 off it will never auto update you will have to manually do it.

    Auto Update is a feature that is used when the Xbox is off but still in that low lower state. It doesnt work when the XB1 is on.

    I've never read that the Xbox One is supposed to perform game updates in standby ?

    As far as I'm aware the auto update feature is for console updates.

    And what energy save option do you have on the console selected?

    Besides factory reset and turn off and on auto updates, which troubleshooting steps you have done so far to fix this?
    In that way I can advise you different things or how to proceed

    I personally didn't experience this issue on my both consoles

    You sir have the luck of a god then.

    Among many of the features my Xbox has that don't work auto update hasn't worked in years.

    It's just a Xbox one standard with 500gb HD and 2tb external, power settings are set to standby.

    Are there anymore troubleshooting options other than hard resets and toggling the features?

    HDR Issues ONLY When Playing 4K UHD Disc

    I have the Xbox One S set to Auto and the TV set to Auto. I never mess with those settings and the Samsung Blu-Ray Player I used worked fine.

    Right now I'm manually updating the TV settings to "Limited" when playing a 4K UHD with HDR. Whenever I do anything else I change the TV back to "Auto" and it works properly.

    Do you think a firmware upgrade from Xbox could fix this?

    I've never had my x1 set to 'auto update,' but do remember being in a game when. "Time to update" pops up and the only options you have is. "Update now" or "Go offline."

    Either choice ruins your game with no way to save your progress.

    Lets face it, with Xbox One "priority one" from "day one" was never the gamer.

    Why do auto game updates never work?

    Is your console enrolled in the Insider Preview Program?

    Have you tried to hard reset your console by holding the power button on the right side of the console for 15 seconds and then restarting the console?

    Sometimes my console gets "stuck" when constantly running in Instant On mode. Especcially when they push a new Insider build. Restarting my console via a hard reset usually resolves that issue, and my games are again updating automatically when the console
    is idle.
