Xbox one auto power off after x hours not working?

Has anyone had the issue with the auto power off feature on the Xbox one not working?

I read some say the kinect might be picking up movement in the room so it never idles.. but the room is empty for hours without movement and it fails to autopower off..

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

    :)

  2. Hardware Issue - Power Off - Inactivity - Broke 2 Consoles

My first xbox one x console would not power off with inactivity, where as my old xbox one always did. I called support, reset the system, factory defaults, reset the power, went through the settings and it still didn't shut off after any amount of time.

They sent me a 2nd xbox one x, and it's the same thing. The auto-power off due to inactivity is not working, and it's really annoying.

Can someone fix this and report this to the right staff? I'm already on my 2nd xbox one x console and there is nothing left for me to try.

    Auto dim broken.

There is no Specific Auto Dim feature in the settings yet but i would go too.

    Settings-Power & Start up - Power & Start up Mode - Turn off After - 1 Hour/6 Hours/Do Not Turn off Automatically.

    Could be a ghost?

You could try covering the kinect or turning it off in the settings. See if that works.

  5. @Goatsnatcher, you jest (I assume)... but I've actually had a conversation with someone on these forums who (if memory serves) said he lives in an older farm house that is rumored to have 'previously deceased occupants'.

I recall him saying that his Kinect was mapping people sitting in chairs that were empty when he calibrated it and I guess it would sign in a "guest" while he was playing, yet nobody entered the room... not even a pet. Some other odd things I can't recall
    now were happening as well.

In any case, I don't use that feature myself, so can't really help... other than to recommend the most common solution, which is try a hard reset since that fixes many issues like this.

@Blue. I know weird things do happen with kinect sometimes. when I used to have mine on when I first got the X1, My daughter would always have an invisible "guest" next to her, if she moved the invisible guest would slowly follow her. It was a little strange
    to say the least lol.

It doesn't work reliably for me. It's failed more times than it's worked, but if Kinect seeing movement counts as "activity" then that might explain it.

IMO, unless you're either watching or listening to something, then it should switch off after an hour of not detecting any controller inputs or explicit Kinect gestures/voice controls, but if that's the way it's supposed to work now then it doesn't work
    well.

@Blue. I know it freaked the wife out when it happened lol. We sometimes watch Ghost Adventures and they use a modified kinect on that show sometimes.

  10. All I know @GS is that if my Kinect ever starts registering 'invisible' guests, I'm going to the settings menu and then checking the 'What Kinect Sees' area. There better not be anything there resembling a human (or worse?) form, or I'm getting the ****
out of there... right after I change my shorts.

Well, after saying what I said above, I tested it while sitting in front of the Kinect and it worked. It shut off after 1 hour of inactivity, even though Kinect could see me and I was moving around.

It is true Kinect can see what the naked human eye cant. One sure way to make sure its OFF is turn it off at the wall. Microsoft doesnt make spyware.
