Xbox One authentication with generated password

Goodafternoon all,

I have an issue that is bugging me for some time now. I do not know if, and how, to solve this.
Hopefully there is a workable solution. I will give some context:

On my microsoft account, I use a generated password of 100 characters consisting of letters, numbers and characters. Complete mumbo jumbo.

Besides this, I also always change this password every 72 days. This is not a big deal, I use a password vault and all is well.

BUT everytime I change my microsoft account password I álso have to re-authenticate my account configured on my XBox one.

You can imagine the frustration of typing this password with an XBox controller every 3 months, especially when a mistake is made.

I have already tried to use my phone via de XBox app as this gives a neat keyboard function, but for authenticating a microsoft account this is not accepted, and it says I have to authenticate using a controller.

Is there any other way aroung the need to fill in the password using the controller every three months ?

If you have enabled a two factory authentication, generate an app password for login in game.

ONLY one The thing you need to do, because Xbox doesn't support app authentication, sign in to your Microsoft account on PC, and in the security settings, there's an option at the bottom to create a one-time password for The application... You confirm, it will write you a one-time password, then you enter your e-mail normally on the Xbox and as a password you do not give your password, but the generated one and everything works 😊

Hi there Shaggy! It sounds to me like you set up Two-Step Authentication. You'll need to generate yourself an application password on account.live.com. Login, and go to the security section. Once there, you are able to generate one. This application password
is what you will use to sign in from now on.

I believe this is a known issue. However, you may want to additionally use two-step authentication on your account, particularly enabling an authenticator app, which you can do here:

The Xbox One will take the 20-character password and then ask for the code, while for the Xbox 360 you will need to generate an App Password (same link as above) which gives you a random, lengthy password to enter.

This allows you to keep the very long password on your account and also lets you sign in on Xbox 360.
