Xbox one audio question?

Hello forum,

I have a problem that I see coming to me once I get my HTiB Onkyo HT-S9400THX 7.1 speaker system in the coming days. I had everything researched planned out etc etc, after ordering the system I continued reading about the system. Currently
I have a LG 60PN5300 tv and I come to find out this does not support ARC (Audio Return Channel). Going into it a little deeper optical audio does not support 7.1 channels and not as high quality, was wondering if this is true? I also have an Xbox one that
has a HDMI input and output, I’m trying to find out if it has ARC support, which I never did find an answer to that.

Another question would be if I connect my cable box to the Xbox one then the Xbox one to receiver then receiver to TV (all HDMI) would that work to me getting 7.1 or highest audio quality? Or is there another way to get the best sound out
of my receiver without my TV supporting ARC? This whole thing upsets me because I bought this TV new last year and if I would have known about ARC (which I just learned about this technology) and not being able to connect stuff like this I would have never
gotten it. If you guys can help me with this dilemma and I’m somewhat of a Noob when it comes to this stuff but I can follow the best I can.

Xbox Summer Update - Full Overview

They must be doing some tweaking to the audio in xbox one. With this mornings update, My optical audio is loud as hell.

If you have you system set up Cable box>Xbox One>Onkyo receiver>TV you can set your Xbox to output 7.1 Uncompressed surround sound through HDMI. You only need ARC through terrestrial TV, SMART features, and if you stream DLNA directly to the TV, but since
you can do all that through the Xbox One, you'll be fine.

I have had speakers and headphone on at the same time delivering game audio.

I'm not absolutely certain, but I think it can. I use HDMI for my speakers and TV, but used optical for my high-end wireless headphones and both worked just fine.

To answer your question, no, I didn't have the speakers on at the same time, at least technically speaking - but that doesn't mean it wouldn't work. I just turned off the TV speakers using the TV menu so I could use the Kinect without any audio interference
from the TV and without disturbing the rest of my family.
