    does anyone know if the Xbox one can simultaneously output audio via hdmi and optical? I have a receiver which can only play audio in zone 2 using an analog signal. I can convert the optical into analog rca and get sound out of my second zone at the same
    time. This is for a backyard projection setup that I'm trying to put together.

    Xbox one audio question

    I'm not absolutely certain, but I think it can. I use HDMI for my speakers and TV, but used optical for my high-end wireless headphones and both worked just fine.

    I opened the door to the optical port while transmitting via hdmi and the light was on. I was told that if the light is on, then it is transmitting a signal. Can't wait to play some halo mcc or watch MNF on a 120" backyard projector. I just have to convince
    the wife that it will be for kids movies Xbox one audio question ;)

    To answer your question, no, I didn't have the speakers on at the same time, at least technically speaking - but that doesn't mean it wouldn't work. I just turned off the TV speakers using the TV menu so I could use the Kinect without any audio interference
    from the TV and without disturbing the rest of my family.

    If you have you system set up Cable box>Xbox One>Onkyo receiver>TV you can set your Xbox to output 7.1 Uncompressed surround sound through HDMI. You only need ARC through terrestrial TV, SMART features, and if you stream DLNA directly to the TV, but since
    you can do all that through the Xbox One, you'll be fine. :)
