    Hey Xbox forum,

    I'm currently having a recent, somewhat minor, issue regarding the audio output in general from my Xbox. I started up my console this morning and immediately noticed that the menu sounds were sounding a bit off. After a little testing, I discovered that
    all audio output coming from my Xbox is a higher pitch than it should be, across all apps and games.

    At first, I thought it was my headphones increasing the pitch of the audio for some reason, but I tested the sound through my built-in TV speakers, as well as my external logitech speakers. Then my next thought was that it might be my ears and not my xbox,
    so I listened to some music through my Xbox and throught my phone to give a comparison, and lo and behold, the audio of my phone was the correct pitch.

    This is very odd considering that it has only ever happened today, and none of my settings were changed at all. The only thing that happened between yesterday and today is my friends and I were playing a bit of dark souls yesterday on one of my friend's
    account through his external hard drive, so maybe that switched around some audio related settings? I am completely stumped as I cannot find anyone else with this issue across multiple pages of multiple search engines. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hard resetting did not fix the issue.

    TV audio gets deeper/lower in tone

    Bump, this has actually gotten worse. I've been hooking up my Pi after each update and it's actually gotten worse. Some files actually getting really high pitched and some files get low pitched. Obviously something is wrong with how the xbox is sampling
    the audio from the hdmi input.

    So I started my Xbox and I notice that the audio was strange, it was higher piched then usual. I tested out a game to see if it was true, I was right, the audio is more higher piched then usual. Please tell me there is a way for the audio to go back to the normal pitch that it was.
    I solved the problem. I just turned off the Xbox for some time, and audio was just back to normal. I'm sure the methods work, for other people seeing this and having the same issue and still not working, try some of the other replying methods.

    I would suggest you first plug your Xbox into another device, as since the audio signal is digital, there is really no way it should be higher pitched. So the first place I would look is on your TV or audio system

    Thank you. I appreciate that. There's a possibility that it may be an issue with the speaker. Try checking your speaker settings if it's the one that's faulty. To further isolate the issue, try using a different speaker if possible.

    Other thing to try on your console as well is to perform a factory reset to remove potentially corrupted data and to refresh your console system.
    Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
    Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.
    Select Reset console.
    On the Reset your console? Please choose “Reset and keep my games & apps”

    What exactly is your console model?
    When did you first notice the issue?
    May I confirm if you're using a headset or speaker?
    Do you hear the high pitch sound on both the headset and speaker?
    Does it also happen when you play music from Spotify or YouTube apps?

    For our basic troubleshooting steps, please power cycle your console. Press and hold the Xbox power button for 10 sec until it turns off. Unplug it from the power source for few minutes. Plug it back in and turn it on again.

    Don't forget to check for updates on your controller.
