XBOX ONE Audio - 5.1 Surround Sound - WHERE IS IT FOR CABLE???

I see there is a Feb. 2015 update for Xbox One. I did not see it mention that there is any audio improvement for 5.1 surround sound when using this ALL-IN-ONE system for cable TV. When will this happen? Will this ever happen? It disgusts me that I cannot
take advantage of 5.1 for my sound system when watching cable. The link on the XBOX ONE site that explains how to configure 5.1 is inaccurate. I do not have this BETA option.

Choosing Speaker Audio Settings on Xbox One

Will this ever be fixed? I choose not to use XBOX ONE for cable because of this reason. What a disappointment on the 400 dollars I spent!

Does anybody know of an update of whenthis may happen?

    :)

    Audio/Video Receivers

I am wandering what is the process for connecting a Kilspch 5.1 surround sound speaker to the Xbox One. The current set-up right now is connected directly to the TV audio output to the Kilspch AUX input to get the surround sound. Also, I am curious if the
Kinect for Xbox One will support the full control of this Audio/Video Receiver.

  3. 5.1 setup HDMI not working...

So my optical from xbox to receiver and selecting DTS digital is going to give me 5.1 surround?

It def sounds really good when watching netflix.. but ive always thought uncompressed 5.1 under the hdmi audio setting on the xbox would give me better surround sound?

    Help Needed!

I have the same issue with my Xbox. If it is connected via HDMI the 5.1 sound will rarely work going to my surround sound receiver regardless of what the settings are in the Xbox but if I connect it using an optical audio cable the 5.1 works without fail.

The Xbox is an Arcade edition.

5.1 audio HDMI not avilable on Xbox one? Are you serious?

    From the Kotaku review:

The units we've been testing mess with the audio that comes from the cable box, and are currently only able to output surround sound if you dig into the menus and tick off a "Surround Sound (BETA)" option. Otherwise, it downmixes your cable's 5.1 surround
to stereo. My boss Stephen Totilo likes to watch pro wrestling, and when he does, he likes to watch it in surround sound. (The better to hear the taunts and the body-slams, I guess.) But if he runs his cable box through his Xbox One, the audio comes through
in mere stereo. Microsoft assures us that a non-beta option for surround audio throughput is coming, but it won't be there at launch.

I hope it doesn't take too long...

    5.1 Surround Sound - HDMI

I have a 5.1 dolby digital receiver/dvd player hooked to xbox one with an optical cable and to the tv with hdmi Xbox setting is set to bitstream out dolby digital and I get full 5.1 on games and blue ray works perfectly and menu sounds but any music or
video app or a dvd that has 5.1 audio won't work the music and video apps only give 2.1 and the dvd with 5.1 sounds so muffled I can't hear I have tried everything and all I can get is this or fake surround and I don't want fake surround if all the apps are
in 2.1 why wouldn't the Xbox be smart enough to mix the sound through all the channels of audio if the program only does 2.1

Xbox One no surround sound on my home theater

First, try going to Settings > Display and Sound > In the middle, change the "HDMI Audio" setting to '5.1 uncompressed'.

If you still can't get 5.1 audio to your sound system, try buying an optical audio cable and plug that from the back of your xbox one into your sound system and change the settings on your sound system to use the 'Optical In' or a setting that chooses that
input. Don't forget to change the settings like the one above, but under "Optical Audio" choose "Bitstream Out" and change "Bitstream Format" to "DTS Digital Surround." The optical audio port is right between the HDMI in and out ports.
