Xbox One Astro a40 with M80 Mixamp?

I talked with Astro a few times about them being stero and not 7.1. They told me that the headset is 7.1 and the Xbox controller is able to run 7.1 but the controller's 7.1 is enabled. Will this be updated in a patch or will this headset always be held back
by Xbox firmware? If a patch is upcoming is there a time frame for it? Thanks in advance for your reply

    :)

I'm getting the same thing. Which headset are you using? I'm using an Astro A40 with MixAmp M80.

You answered my question and now I think I can answer yours as well lol The actual headset itself is capable of producing the 7.1, you just can't do it with the M80. You'd need the MixAmp Pro to do that.

And so I decided, the Astro A40 2015 edition is literally a complete scam, a huge waste of money. $199+ for a sterio headset? Not happening. Better off spending the extra $50 and getting the other headset instead with 7.1.

I talked with a chat member on the Astro site and he recommended that I just buy the original and not waste my money on the newer version. Plus, the M80 runs off of the power from the controller itself as well, unlike the other Astro headset with can be
plugged into your system, this one doesn't work like that. So I could only imagine people who run wireless controllers will be constantly changing their batteries then. Huge let down imo.

  5. And I personally think it's not even worth $199, maybe $149 at the most, but no way will I pay that price for just a stereo headset. The more I look at videos/reviews and what not of the M80, it just looks so darn cheap to me.

The headset is pretty cool though, I like the color/design, if I could just buy the headset itself without the M80, and then by the MixAmp Pro, now that would be awesome.

Thanks for your reply. The only thing about the reg a40 is I play about 9 or 10 feet from my tv in the living room . With two kids and a dog im sure it will get pulled off my head and I'm not sure the wires included will reach. And for going up to the a50
I really dont want to pay $300 plus tax for a headset.

What headset do you guy's and girl's use?

I had an older pair of Astro A40s that I used on the 360. Boy do they last. I did get a new pair of Astros for Christmas though. The ones with the M80 mixamp and I love it.
