Xbox One as a present?

Just wondering what folk would do in this situation?

Turned 50 today and my son has bought me an Xbox One bundle costing £320 as a present. Knowing he has money issues I thanked him for the thought but politely told him to return it as he should be sorting his personal debts out first.

My wife and I are not the sort of folk who are extravagant when it comes to birthdays, etc, We are quite happy with just a card and maybe a simple gift.

So, as the question above, what would you do if you were in this situation?

XBOX ONE System as a whole.

Don't get me wrong, I love Microsoft and have been team Xbox since the first console came out, but Xbox One is a huge let down. I love the amazing graphics, snaps, way you can interact with your peers, look of the Xbox, blue-ray features, and how detailed
the dashboard is...... But the amount of flaws with this console is beyond me and pathetic.... The system is very complex in how you roam and try to find what your looking for instead of just pressing the middle button and having every option pop up which
is simple and good, sometimes when you join party's others can't hear you and you can't hear them, often sometimes the Xbox itself will freeze even when you turn it off it will go to the same screen it froze on, Sometimes games will stop and go back to dashboard
(new games), the storage is a rip off because you'd assume, "Oh look I have 500 GB on my Xbox one; I should be able to download a boat load of things", when really most of the games you buy or download are in fact around 30-40 GB even the games you buy the
disk for instead of downloading it online, causing one to have to spend even more money to buy storage for something that appeared to be a good deal of storage. Also, when the network is down you can't even sign in to your profile to play offline... I don't
mind paying any amount of money for my Xbox because I am a true Microsoft and Xbox fan, but this was a huge let down and a waste of my money for a system that was not properly made and has so many things that could make this the best console the world has
seen. These problems need to be fixed or else most people are sadly going to turn towards Sony's PlayStation 4, the sh****** console, which is not good. This is not a hate message just a message of disappointment in how inefficient this console is. This reminds
me of the time GTA V first came out and everyone was so pumped, waiting to play online, and when they finally came out with it, almost no one could even properly play online because of all the errors they did not fix or see within it and they lied and even
advertise Heist on GTA but never came out with them. How can you promote such positive things about this console yet you overprice this console for all who enjoy Xbox, but instead you didn't fix the flaws with this console.

P.S. I love Xbox and Microsoft, but please fix this or do better in the near future with this system or your next.

Reckon I would of done the same as you.

While it's a lovely gesture there's no point in your son getting into possibly more debt just for the sake of a birthday present.

Besides,he'll still be able to buy you an xbox one once his debts are cleared if he really wants to get you one.

That was a good choice debt is not a good thing to get in to but anyway hope you get xbox one soon maybe we can do some gaming together from an ambassador

 

Oh bless, I'd do the same paraffin alien. May I suggest that you go to one of the more popular auction sites? I've just got a 3month old Xbox one with several games for half the price your son paid.

My partner wanted to buy a new one for my 40th but, I convinced him to let me shop for a bargain first.

If your son refuses then you can either pay him an amount back or, find something that he wants and buy it for him. This way you both save face!
