  1. Xbox One as a DVR... TV Tuner in America

I finally hooked up my xbox one to my cable box and like the one guide, but definitely think it falls short, as I thought it had a dvr functionality as well since launch...

I did some research and saw the tv tuner: http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-one/accessories/digital-tv-tuner#fbid=TS6ysBjdjmK

However only on the UK microsoft website. Some questions I have...

Why is this not availble on the US website?

If I purchase this will I be able to use it in US?

    :)

The TV tuner is not available in the US.

-Its not available in the US because we have many cable and SAT providers whose guides and channels and hardware are supported. In the UK they do not have this support and the providers like the US does.

  6. personally Id rather be able to use the cable box that many are charge for monthly or up front vs. having to buy another two devices. That is just me....I see the cool factor but in the USA, all subscribers to most cable and SAT companies have an app
that stream live TV to any smart device via wifi in the home so....to me

We already have features that they have to pay extra for.

<thats just my point of view>

  7. HD cable box is generally $10 a month additional to your typical $50+ a month cable fee. Add $10 if you want a dvr. Add more for additional units. You are talking about a lot of money being spent monthly just to watch tv, in reality Idgaf about what is on
tv (except live events like sports) I prefer just internet. $60 a month just for 1 hdtv cable setup is ridiculous, $720 a year (plus taxes).

I for some reason assumed the xbox acted as a receiver and a dvr (those advertisements as an all-in-one media center sure where deceptive). I did some research and learned it just passes through the signal, but still thought it was a dvr (as barely any reviews
mention it). At this point I realized it won't save me anything monthly (I don't have a dvr) but atleast it will add something to my media cetner (dvr). Then when I finally got a hd recieiver I realized it doesn't have dvr functaionality. As an "all-in-one"
media device, it certainly lacks in features and is not very innovative. What is the point to have 2 devices plugged in when it can (and should) be able to handle it with just the x1. I'd rather not wear my x1 down by having to have it on all the time while
I watch tv (not to mention lackluster kinect responsiveness).

Had I known all this before I purchases my x1 I wouldn't have got it and gotten a ps4 as all my friends now have. Luckily microsoft has halo, and this halo MCC bugfest isn't helping that decision.

All Xbox webpages, in store literature are very specific that the device requires a SAT or cable box with hdmi.

I believe you were deceived by the media rather than Xbox. There is not mention of non gaming DVR functions

  9. The vague commercials advertising "all-in-one" media switching from tv to game made me assume that the product was innovative enough to combine a receiver and dvr in the xbox. I'm always assuming the best in things of course.
