Windows 8 for xbox one?

I keep seeing that xbox one is running three operating systems. The specs on an xbox one are far greater than my PC's at home. I would love to have the xbox one run windows 8 OS, so I can install games like world of tanks, world of warcraft, starcraft, guild
wars 2, ect on my xbox, rather than build yet another new PC. I wouldn't even mind paying say an extra $100 for the Windows 8 OS.

If Microsoft has the Xbox One run the full Windows 8 OS, I will not buy just one, I will be buying 4 of them, one for every member of my household!

 

Basically the Xbox One is a true X86, X86-64 machine. As Frank Savage said, “any game I made ran equally well on Windows 8 (desktop) and Xbox One”. The porting capability this implies is very powerful, infact, if Frank Savage is to be believed, port-lag
is non existent. Just convince the devs, and you shall have the game.

Not much idea on it either but that one quote stood out for me, can we get Total War and the proper civilization etc etc now please, thanks lol

You just found out where the Games for Gold for Xbox One will come from, or I should say, it won't surprise me if that's the case.

Only reason i still fire my pc up is to play proper RTS, Sim, Tycoon type games, games you can chill out set things to build, let the world grow then wage war in an epic scale, i'd love to see more of em on consoles full stop, especially if they add support
for mice n keyboard, my pc will go away forever lol

Age of Empires, Civilization, Any Total war, the older sim cities, dawn of war, company of heros, roller coaster tycoon, commandos, any of them games n i am a customer forever lol

 

Now they would be onto a absolute winner in my opinion if they could bring some of those titles to Xbox One.

I only use my PC these days for the strategy titles, Sim City etc, if we saw more of these games on console I think I could free up some space in my house

 

If that article speaks the truth, I hope so, the games catalogue would go through the roof. If porting took almost zero work which dev would not be interested in releasing the Xbox version. And games for gold as you say will have some real classics at its
disposal.

 

If it's as easy to port a game to Xbox One as this article says then there's no reason why we shouldn't see the games library grow.

I've been having a read around on a few other sites and like eviltedi said, others think the same that a lot of these games could be used as the Xbox One's own "Games for Gold" ..

Only recently OXM reported that Microsoft would have some more news by E3 on Games for Gold so I'm going to keep my fingers tightly crossed about this.

I wouldn't scream neither if the games came over to One. We've already seen Spartan Assault stroll over. There's a bunch of games I would love to see!

I was looking back at the comments section on OXM and Eurogamer in articles about Games for Gold, also a few tweets on Twitter and a few were mentioning that Xbox One would be perfect and easy enough to port some of these games across.

^ Talking of Spartan Assault, I've tried to play this a few times but really struggle playing it using the pad, I think it's the aiming system that I just can't get to grips with :-/
