    I read yesterday that GDDR3 RAM may be better than DDR3 RAM. GDDR is a type a memory best suited for graphics. Xbox 360 has GDDR3 but it's only 512MB RAM where as Xbox 1 has DDR3 but it's 8GB of it. Even if Microsoft restricts the memory to 5GB that can
    be used for games, it's still a good amount of memory compared to only 512MB RAM. The graphics in Halo MCC campaign remastered Halo 2, Zoo Tycoon, Screamride, Minecraft, Kinect Sports Rivals, and Forza Horizon 2, still means Xbox 1 can play good looking games.
    Minecraft and Halo are in 1080p 60fps and Forza is in 1080p.

    If there's one company that can push the limits of hardware through software, it's Microsoft.

    The GPU has 14 CU but only 12 are used. The other 2 are redundant because enabling them would mean that they cant be guaranteed to work on every chip produced, due to manufacturing faults on the chip.

    This is a very complex issue.... Especially when you factor in the upcoming directx 12...

    You can always add more power, the question is can you use it with the bandwidth you have. The PS4 has more power and is optimised to use it. And it shows mostly.

    I'd argue that the xbox one hardware is optimised to use direct x12 and has been patched up to deliver with the current software. DX 12 is a new approach to how graphics are processed so it's hard to judge where the xbox one sits in terms of real capabilites.
    I'm sure that's where all this talk of a balanced system comes from. Phil himself has said that they were well aware of direct x12 when they designed the xbox one and the xbox one offers full support for dx12.

    I'm excited.....

    It can be seen as a safety net or less thought in compatibility of components by design, Either a bad decision or a safe decision.

    In fact, it flew off, went and made a cup of tea, came back, flew around my head a few more times and now it's gone again.

    On a positive not, at least I know how to turn my Xbox One on and start playing games ;)
