  1. Xbox one and xbox 360 strict NAT's more details below need major help

Okay so my problems are these 1.i just got a new xbox one not too long ago, maybe a few months ago, i game on my 360 majority of the time...they are both wireless and currently less than an inch away from eachother. Now when i sign into my xbox one i have
a STRICT NAT when i signed into my xbox 360 up until a day ago i had a open to moderate nat( i messed around with small parts of port forwarding on the site ill leave at the bottom of the post i used the user named "gandalf" solution which worked great
but we had to hard reset everything the other day and now my xbox 360 and my xbox one both have strict NATs

    WHAT IVE TRIED

so originally i tried forwarding ports 53,80.88.500.3074.3544.4500 for my xbox one on my lynksys WRT160Nv2 router i tried doing the ports in single port forwarding and port range forwarding, i either did it wrong due to lack of knowledge or it just didnt
work for whatever reason, i then tried to DMZ my xbox one after clearing all my port forward stats as its dangerous to use both at the same time (just a quick heads up my router for the most part was still set up as gandalf had instructed and still is but
anywho so the DMZ did not work, my UPnP is disabled if i get a response to this i will be happy to post screenshots of my router setup to assist

as far as i know the setup downstairs is that we have a modem router and hub...hope that helps, my goal is to hopefully have an open NAT on my xbox one and xbox 360 by the end of the week, i have searched all over and no advice has helped unfortunately

    Port forwarding question

I have discovered why my X1 reports a Strict or Moderate NAT sometimes and it's after one of the 360s uses one of the ports the X1 needs. As soon as a Live port is used for a 360 via UPnP, 3074 for example, the X1 drops to Strict.

This is exactly the reason why I use UPnP, because if 360 1 is using 3074, UPnP will map 360 2 to a different port number that grants the same access as 3074 allowing both to communicate with the Live service at the same time, thus granting an Open NAT to all connected 360s. The X1 is not triggering port forwarding via UPnP to utilise this feature, so is the device that suffers when a 360 is in use.

The PS3 used to have a UPnP enable/disable option on the console itself, which I thought was odd, but perhaps if the 360 had this, enabling it would tell the console to use UPnP, which once it uses UPnP to trigger the ports I'm sure it will resolve the multiple device issue.

    For reference:

    • When I have an Open NAT, the X1's Detailed NAT Information says: Your network is behind a cone NAT
    • When I have a Moderate NAT, the X1's Detailed NAT Information says: Your network is behind a port-restricted NAT
    • When I have a Strict NAT, the X1's Detailed NAT Information says: Your network is behind a port-preserving port-symmetric NAT

Xbox One NAT type: Strict.... Help

If it's still strict after you open the proper ports, try resetting your modem and router, then hard reset your console.

This site will help you open the right ports
    Open Port

Just select your router and follow the instructions. Do not download anything from the site, it's not necessary. It's a safe site, but port forwarding manually is very easy.

Xbox one and xbox 360 strict NAT's more details below need major help

May you please do a multiplayer connection test on your Xbox One? In the result screen please hold LT, LB, RT and RB simultaneously to start the detailed connection test. Wait for the detailed NAT status and post back the results here.

Do you get any other error codes? Are you connected to the Internet at all?

Please be also aware to have your router using the latest firmware available.

Please be also aware, that when using a Xbox One and a Xbox 360 simultaneously you can not use dmz or portforwarding at all, only UPnp is possible then. Dmz is only possible if you switch the host to the console you are currently using at that moment.

You may also check portforward.com for additional tutorials on your router.

One last question: am I getting it right that your router is connected to a modem via a hub/switch? Or is it more like it is connected to another router and may be double natted by this?

Why having troubles with NAT type ?

You need to explain the issue in detail. Is your xbox getting a moderate or strict NAT? Is it a double NAT? If it's the moderate or strict NAT, look into port forwarding or placing the xbox one in a DMZ through your router.
