The way they have this page setup showing supported resolution is false advertising

Now if you read that at a glance you would think that the xbox one supports 1080i. However if you read the fine print they go into each one 1080i basically says we can support it but ahhhh we don't feel like giving you the option. It is a very misleading
page of information when read at a glance and I advise you to change this page to make it more obvious that it is not supported if your not going to support it.

I bought the xbox one thinking it supported 1080i because of this page because face who why should I need any more then a list of the resolutions not a definition or explanation. Anyway I proceed to open up the 500$ xbox and hook it up and within the first
10 seconds i find out it DOES NOT support 1080i. MS you must rectify this situation. The system not supporting 1080i is literally the only thing i dislike about the system itself. That 1 dislike is huge though, so huge that it makes me want to sell it and
go by a ps4 with even losing 100$ in the process.. I'm sorry to say but putting 1080i on that page acting like your going to support it and then say well we can but we don't think it looks as good so we are not going to give you that option... That is completely
un-American. So if this is not rectified I'll do the only American thing i know how to do to get my way, which is to Sell your American xbox one and go Japanese.

Sorry MS misleading advertising (fine print is for shady people). Fix it or I abandon ship and i know i'm not the only one.

1080i Cable TV on XBox One?

You're right, Mykale29, there are probably several issues effecting the Xbox One's image quality. If Microsoft could fix the 1080i in from the STB issue and add 1080i output it would at least allow people to view STB content in its original 1080i
while they fix the scaling issues... if they can ever fix the scaling issues completely.

Anybody that denies there’s an image quality issue with the Xbox One should try the same experiment with the HDMI splitter and see for themselves.

That's a great wikipedia link. Nice list that shows the majority of HDTV networks are 1080i, which is another reason the Xbox One needs to support 1080i if it wants to be the Xbox All-in-One machine it claims to be.

It clearly states it doesn't support Interlaced resolution. It's there for informational purposes only to let people know that have 1080i. If they didn't have it, people would go ape. And let us know when you abandon ship. I'll be on the edge of my seat.

XBOX ONE dose not support that. But it support 4K. But that option has not been trun on by MS.

Good point about 1080i being the standard for broadcast HDTV and set-top boxes. Xbox One is the only device I know of that does not support 1080i output. The PS4 and WiiU both support 1080i. And the Xbox One has more reason to support 1080i output than
both of those consoles because of the HDMI-in and Live TV app since broadcast TV and STBs are in 1080i.

I don't think the problem is a handshake issue though. Even if it is and they fixed the handshake issue, the problem is the Xbox One will still scale the 1080i input from STBs to 1080p or 720p because the XB1 doesn't have 1080i output. And the Xbox One's
hardware scaler has been proven to be the cause of image quality issues. Here's just a couple of articles about the Xbox One's upscaling issues:

So, the sharpening filter has been fixed, but there are still issues with contrast/gamma boosting and crushed blacks.

They need to add 1080i output so consumers that care about the image quality from STBs have a choice in viewing the original 1080i without the Xbox One's poor upscaling and post-processing effects. This will also let those with 1080p TVs do the 1080i to
1080p upscaling on their TV if they choose to do so as apparently many HDTVs are better at upscaling 1080i to 1080p than the Xbox One is. As it is, it seems some people have given up on using the HDMI-in and Live TV app with the Xbox One because of the poor
image quality and that was one the Xbox One's biggest selling points.

Of course adding 1080i output is also needed for those of us with 1080i only HDTVs. So they have multiple reasons to add 1080i output, yet Microsoft still seems to be ignoring this issue.
