Xbox One and One S Confusion

    Xbox One and One S Confusion


    I am finding out that adding the letter "S" to the description really isn't helping when shopping for accessories, searching troubleshooting information and so on. These forums for example should have a completely different section just like Xbox One and
    Xbox 360. Complex threads are now becoming a mix of original Xbox One and Xbox One S. Search on Amazon or Google for accessories for Xbox One S and you get a huge blend of information and very few sites explain IF the accessories are compatible with one or
    the other or both. You would think that Microsoft with their marketing experience would know that blending two products without any segregation to make advice, accessories and other information clear to the end user ends up creating confusion, folks purchasing
    the wrong equipment and applying solutions not suited for the version of hardware they have.

    Can I use an Xbox One S controller on the Xbox One?

    Yes, absolutely.

    In case there's confusion, the Bluetooth part in the controller is only for connecting it to a Windows PC. Bluetooth is not used on the Xbox One S, as the console does not actually have a Bluetooth chip.

    The Xbox One S controller still connects to the console with the same wireless protocol as any standard Xbox One controller.

    It even works vice versa! You can also connect a regular Xbox One controller to an Xbox One S.

    Yeah, but I thought that the method of plugging in is the same as the X32 and that one is compatible? Therefore my confusion :S

    I do completely understand what you're saying and it make sense. I think the reason it is how it is right now is because whilst they have been changes with the Xbox One S it is still essential the same console as the Xbox One in terms or operation and there's
    not much difference accessories wise between them

    Fyi the xbox series s/x has no one in it

    This is to reduce the confusion between series s/x and one when it comes to.compatibility

    Only the xbox one s all digital is the only xbox one that isn't compatible with discs

    However there is no limitation as far as xbox one other then the digital only console as far as xbox one games goes

    Vs the series x /s they are backward with xbox one and with the series s limitation as far as discs goes

    So to make this even more confusing to figure out. I just dug out my old xbox one s, fired it up and tested all the controller on
    it. The old ones still work fine. The black one that came with the new xbox series x works fine. The new style white controller that come with the new xbox series s and the new style black controller bought today from best buy BOTH have the headset low volume
    problem on my old xbox one s. Totally confused at this point.
