Xbox One and now Xbox One S

I have always been a massive supporter of the Xbox brand and its products. I was one of those people that waited in line at the Microsoft Store for my Day One Edition which I paid $500 of my hard earned money in 2013. I plan to purchase the Scorpio due to
being a superior console to use with my 4k television; however, the Xbox One S is a smaller version of the Xbox One without Kinect support due to the brick being integrated and a better HDMI port which can support 4k playback. I like my large Xbox One size
has never been a issue for me when it comes to consoles, but my issue is the HDMI port. HDMI 2.0 port was released before the Xbox One, and I feel Microsoft should have been proactive in foreseeing the possible rapid growth of 4k by supplying the original
model with HDMI 2.0 from the beginning. I wonder if Microsoft will do something for the loyal consumers that waited in and spent good money for there product? Microsoft could offer generous trade ins for loyal consumers that spent $500 if they choice to switch
to the smaller model. On the other hand, there are consumers like myself that prefer the big design and does not mind the power brick. For those consumers, Microsoft should have those HDMI ports upgraded from 1.4 to 2.0. I know this cannot be done thru a firmware
update which means the physical ports will have to be replaced. I feel it would be fair for Microsoft to take care of those loyal consumers that supported Xbox through thick and thin by giving them more longevity and benefit for the Xbox One supporters that
spent $500, and hold them over until Scorpio reigns. I doubt this post will even be read by the powers that be at Microsoft, but if nothing comes from this post I would just like to say thank you for at least taking the time to read this.

    :)

I am pretty sure that the one and ps4 went into production before the hdmi 2.0 protocol was finalized. 2.0 was released at the end of Sept of 2013...I am guessing that both companies were already well into their production run by then. Also the designs were
probably locked in at least 6-9 months prior to the holiday 2013 releases.

What's the difference in the regular HDMI and HDMI 2.0?

HDMI works in a similar way USB's do when in comes different versions 1.0, 2.0, and so on. Each version has different signals added for different picture elements which can require more bandwidth than the previous version can provide. HDMI 1.4 was implemented
to carry signals to display 3D blu ray movies for 3D televisions. HDMI 2.0 was designed to carry 4k signals for 4k televisions, but the perk of HDMI 2.0 that it can updated thru firmware updates instead physical replacement of hardware. Many televisions in
the early release of HDMI 2.0 have been updated thru firmware to become HDMI 2.0a which carries an encryption for UHD blu ray movies to combat piracy.

hdmi 2.0a has another problem.... if, say my tv (which does have hdmi 2.0 I believe) gets updated but my other equipment (like my Samsung 4k blu ray player, for example) doesn't get updated, i'm not going to get a very good synch between the two, now am
    I?

If your Samsung is UHD 4k blu ray player it will already be HDMI 2.0a or it would not output any picture. But, if your Samsung is a up scaling 4k blu ray player it will not be updated at all since regular blu rays do not use that encryption. If your TV is
a 2015 model or newer it has HDMI 2.0a, but if it older like a late 2013 model or early 2014 check with the manufacturer. If your tv upgrades to 2.0a anyway all the old HDMI signal will output the same so the sync is irrelevant because it just uses the signal
being sent. Perfect example lets say you have a Xbox 360 which uses HDMI 1.0 to 1.3 I don't remember which, but your tv has HDMI 2.0a. The picture will be the highest quality of what that HDMI can provide. So, the HDMI 2.0a will output the picture from the
old signal and treats it HDMI 1.0 to 1.3. I hope that clears up anything on not having a good sync because any older signal is no issues for newer HDMI ports. One thing to keep in mind is the cable being used for HDMI 1.4 and above a high speed transfer HDMI
is highly suggested, but for HDMI 2.0a high speed cables are required due to the encryption within the signal which means any older HDMI cable without high speed transfers will output no picture.

  11. I personally would like Xbox to not give up on the Kinect technology, before completely focusing on V.R. Plus, the Nokia windows phone should have access to more free Xbox live content. The new consoles look intriguing, but also expensive. 4k better be worth
    the hype...

  12. consider the fact that much of the Kinect stuff can be shrunk down further and put into a vr goggles that can see and recognize gestures. not an impossible dream there especially with hololens
