  1. Xbox One and hard drive question

Hi, I am considering purchasing an xbox one this week. However I do have a question as far as connecting an external hard drive to the console. I have a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 2.5 hard drive with mp3, avi, and mp4 files on it. Is it possible to connect
this drive to the xbox using a 2.5 sata wire and play the files back on the console? I will post links below that illustrate exactly what type of hard drive it is and what type of wire I am referring to. I just really want to make sure that I will be able
to connect this hard drive to the xbox one to play the content back before I purchase the xbox. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Erik

Hooking up two xboxs on one hard drive.

I have a xbox with a 250gb hard drive and just got another xbox with the 4gb hard drive for another room. My question is, can I hook them both together and use the one hard drive and have my profile on both?

    Xbox One X hard drive

    Hey all

silly question. Should I set up my Xbox One X and then add the hard drive that was connected

to the Xbox One S, or plug the hard drive in before I set up

    Hey there.

Not sure about the power, but I've seen USB power SATA before. Basically you have a SATA hard drive, and a SATA to USB cable. So if the Xbox can power the hard drive it should be fine to play your media on that drive. Now, if you want to install games to
it you'll need to format it losing any media copied to it.

  5. Hi there.

You should be able to play your media files from the drive - you just have to install Media Player app. When you run the Media Player app, select your external USB drive, then select the media that you want to play.

Only be careful not to format the drive because that way all the data stored on it will be erased.

    Hope this helps.

Cheers! Xbox One and hard drive question :)

Lmao cam, new nickname just been found for you. Stud Muffin :p as for the co-op I am gutted its not online, I haven't tried it yet so I just automatically assumed it was online like the others :/

Floor, no offense but that makes no sense to me lol. I just know the capacity sizes and that's about it.

As said earlier by cloud, I am also running out of room, I mean I have a 250gb on my 360 and that only has 6gb left. I am a collector/gamer. My 360 collection reached almost 200 games and I don't like having to delete anything. So with that being said, the
500gb in the X1 is about as useful as a 16gb thumb drive for the 360. I hope we will be given an option to upgrade in some way shape or form, without needing to get a new console.

My knowledge on Sony is minimal but I am guessing that they have the means to do so vote? They would just need to patch it in and make it operational? Sorry if I am not making sense, I literally know next to nothing about Sony / PS4.

As for a 3TB USB drive. I am practically out of space so they need to hurry up and announce something to save me the sake of deleting some games :(

Maybe not acceptable Tendo, but it isn't too much of an inconvenience neither so long as support comes. I mean is there a real notable difference between going out and buying (lets say) a 3TB USB drive to a normal drive? Nope, not in my eyes anyway.

I'm still convinced the reason they went with internal storage, and that external options aren't here yet, is that they wanted the launch of the console to have mod free games.

As soon as people can access the game files easily again, then I expect we'll soon see the same situation as we have on the 360.
