Xbox One and Dolby Atmos

Anyone aware if Microsoft has stated when Atmos support will be available for Xbox One? I'm just looking for it to play Blu Rays. I'd hate to have to buy a second blu ray player when I have my "All in one" entertainment system sitting in the cabinet.

Dolby Atmos Problem bei 4K Filmen

Hi Leute,

ich hab folgendes Problem, meine Xbox One X spielt die Dolby Atmos App sowie Assassin’s Creed Origins perfekt im Dolby Atmos Tonformat ab.

Sobald ich einen 4K Film einlege (Logan, John Wick) mit einer Dolby Atmos Tonspur (Englisch) bekomme ich nur noch ein Dolby True HD Tonformat angezeigt. Ist das ein generelles Problem?

Vielleicht hat jemand das selbe Problem...

Xbox One X 4k Blu Ray Won't Play Dolby Atmos

My Xbox One X will not play Dolby Atmos when using a Blu Ray disk, but Dolby Atmos games and the Dolby Atmos app work fine.

I recently purchased "Coco" on 4k Blu Ray and it will pass a Dolby Atmos signal to my Onkyo TX-RZ900. My receiver is Atmos capable, and works fine with Atmos games such as Gears of War or the Dolby Atmos app.

I have tried changing every setting I think of and clear the blu ray cache, and still nothing.

Hi Bataar,

Currently that setting is not a feature in the Xbox One, and Microsoft to my knowledge has not listed this in their future updates. If you would like a feature like this added to the Xbox please see the link below. Also I've included a link from Dolby on

Have Xbox 360 Dobly Atmos?

I bought a few weeks ago a new Dolby Atmos enabled AV receiver (D&M). I can setup a conversion of 7.1 multichannel PCM into Dolby Surround with the receivers sound modes. Only, I can't say if it's really converted into Dolby Atmos for games, because I have
no top middle ceiling speakers connected. But the amp has a quad core DSP and with Battlefield 4 the sound is much more dimensional. Especially when helicopters and airplanes fly around.

Dolby Atmos native content? perfect! Dolby Atmos playback.

No Dolby Atmos? the App upmix current audio track to Dolby Atmos (the headphones features works in this way).

I don't know if is intentional.

Check if you have an active Dolby Atmos license: To enable Dolby Atmos for Headphones, you need an active Dolby Atmos license. To check if you have an active license, go to the Microsoft Store on your Xbox One, search for "Dolby Access," and check if it says "Owned" next to the app. If it doesn't, you may need to purchase the app to get the license.

Install and setup the Dolby Access App: If you have an active Dolby Atmos license, make sure that you have downloaded and installed the Dolby Access app on your Xbox One. Once the app is installed, launch it and follow the instructions to set up Dolby Atmos for Headphones.

I have the same problem like you. I have an Xbox One X connected through HDMI cable to an Onkyo amplituner 7.1 which is capable to decode Dolby Atmos & DTS X.

I have installed Dolby app on my Xbox to get Dolby atmos sound and the result was that I have on all the games no matter if these are with sound in Dolby Atmos or not only in Dolby Atmos.

Is very strange to get that. I have supposed that when I buy a game with sound in Dolby Digital 5.1 to have Dolby Digital 5.1 and when I buy games in Dolby Atmos to get Dolby Atmos in my amplituner Onkyo.

The same problem I have with all the movies from Netflix. I installed the Netflix app on my Xbox One X and now all the movies I see have sound in Dolby Atmos, even if in the name of the movie on Netflix it is said the sound is recorded only in Dolby Digital
5.1.

What to do in that situation ?......I have tried every settings on my Xbox without any result.......When I put settings on output sound in Xbox everything I played is all in Atmos.

Like you said: "We don't need everything to be upscaled to Atmos, we just want Atmos to work on stuff that is Atmos as it should!"

This is Xbox One specific, and relates to how Dolby Atmos capabilities via Home Cinema amps. They have been compromised by the fact that the Dolby Atmos app version has not kept up with the firmware of numerous current amps from multiple brands.

Since August, it changed from outputting Atmos signals as "Atmos" to to generic "multi Ch in".

Like many others, I mailed Denon, and it is an issue relating to the MAT container embedded in the Dolby Atmos app. We collectively need a definitive answer on when Microsoft and/or Dolby intends to upgrade to 1.6?

The full quite of the Denon explanation is below:

"Dolby Atmos version is changed from “Dolby Harmony 1.3” to “Dolby Home Audio 1.6” via U21 Update. The Dolby Home Audio 1.6 includes the “Dolby MAT signaling” feature that detecting the channel based PCM signal contained into the Dolby MAT Container.
And, major player which contains the PCM signal into Dolby MAT container is only XBOX One S and XBOX One X, currently. With new Dolby Atmos version 1.6, specific processing of source (XBOX) is needed. This is now the problem: Xbox did not implement this processing
