    Xbox One and DLNA

I'm at the point now where I've pretty much finished off all my games for 360 and am looking at getting a new console. Being an avid Xbox fan I'd like to get the Xbox One but have one major drawback holding me back - no DLNA support. Sure, I've read about
the 'Play To' feature, but I want to pull content from my PC to my console, pushing it from the PC seems silly to me and is very inconvenient.

I've read about how I'm apparently in the minority when it comes to using DLNA streaming on my 360 but I just wanted to let you guys on the Xbox team know that no DLNA support (full support as we know it on the 360) is a deal breaker for me and I cannot buy
into Xbox One before that feature gets implemented.

That is all. Xbox One and DLNA :)

    :)

You can use a mobile app called skifta as a DLNA controller between your DLNA server and Xbox One.

Microsoft as you may know, is all about proprietary software and this will hurt them in the future (maybe near future?) when open source catches on more and more and people start realizing stuff actually gets implemented quicker and cheaper in software for
the same quality. I hate that many big corporations in the world we live in feel like everyone is out to get them and limit their sources from groups that could actually "fix" or make them better. People always want quality for their money and only opening
support up to a wider standard of networking features (i give em credit for IPv6/teredo), video features (file formats), and audio features (Lossless HD audio) would make the Xbox one just as successful as Windows once was.

    -

Summary to this thread, they want you to use their Xbox video and music service or setup media streaming on a
Windows PC. Open source doesn't mean non-monetization, but know the balance of how much you can monetize versus the support you get from the open community. This is something Microsoft does not get and is losing money to its competitors (Apple,
    Google/Android, Sony, etc.)

    -

Xbox 360's greatest feature was the Hardware upscaling for 1080p in its early stage. I still play it rather than buying a new console for that reason.

I'd be fine with setting up media streaming on a Windows PC, that's how I have it set up now on my 360. It is my understanding that it's not currently an option on the One.

The xb1 has DLNA but right now is only a Play To device. It means that you can't see your local stored media from the xb1.

What you can do is go to your PC, choose the file you want to play and tell it to play it on the xb1 (right click the file and choose Play To).

You can also use a smart phone or a tablet app which is called Skifta. You tell Skifta where your media is on your network, choose what you want to play and select the xb1 as the play to device. It's not ideal but right now it's the best solution.

Hopefully MS will fix the DLNA issue soon.

  7. I tried Skifta and it just doesn't work. Love the potential of this thing. It seems like the software is a year behind where it should be.

Any update on DLNA support on the Xbox One? I would love to hear from a MS employee if/when this issue will be addressed. This feature is all that's left in holding me back from purchasing a One.

Yes - DLNA and custom soundtracks w/out 'windowed snap' requirements...shouldn't have to shrink the game play window to listen to custom soundtracks.

    Fix the DLNA Boondoggle already!!

The Xbox One DOES support DLNA. Maybe if you had done a little research you would have found that out.

It can't browse through your DLNA server, but all you need is an App to push DLNA content to your Xbox One.

Look up BubbleUPnP, Skift, AllCast on Android.
