    Xbox One and BT Openzone

Has anybody got their Xbox One to connect to a BT Openzone (or other variations) hotspot? Mine will connect to the open wifi but to get an internet connection you need to 'log in' to your BT account through a web browser. Good job the xbox one has IE! Except
it doesn't work for me.... Has anyone else got it working and how did you do it?! I can't connect via my laptop and bridge it as I don't have an ethernet port on my laptop.. :/ I don't want to be forking out more money for line rental AND broadband for a place
I'm at less than 50% of the year! Plus I would never even use the line rental...

Any help would be much appreciated.. If I can't get it working it will seem I've just bought a pretty black box that will sit next to my tv!

I'd also use my phone's hotspot like I did with my 360 if it wasn't for the fact that three have changed their damn service to have a 2gb cap on tethering... something they conveniently forgot to tell me when I upgraded.

    :)

Cant connect to XBL through Laptop Xbox One and BT Openzone

Also, when you connect to the BT Openzone wifi, you go to their website , do you have a VPN to login to after that or do you just login to BT Openzone with your details and then you are browsing the net?

Google USB to ethernet adapter. You can get one for pretty cheap.

This literally being the only option available to us? Why can't we access the BT Wifi login page via the browser already on our xbox?

Not sure about xbox1 but on ps4 you just open the browser and the Openzone login page opens once you've logged in you can go online for gaming.

  7. I answered your question to the best of my abilities, since I don't own an Xbox One, but have used several
    USB to ethernet adapters.

I agree with Ooh, you can do it on PS4, so I'd imagine you could do it on XBoxOne.

A better option might be a travel router - I've used one in the past to connect to hotel wifi, and from there connect your Xbox, Laptop and other devices. I've not tried it with Openzone though.

Hiya. I know this is an old thread but it can be done. Is a bit of pain but it only takes a few minutes.

Firstly it works best with a laptop sharing it's wifi connection. This can be done with a program called mypublicwifi. It's free, just google it. Once you have you're xbox one sharing the connection with the laptop, open up the internet browser on the xbox
one. Wait for it to load and then go back to the main xbox screen. Open up your network settings and connect to bt openzone. As soon as it says connecting head back to internet explorer. Refresh the page and it should come up with the sign in page for bt openzone.
Sign in and voila. Unfortunately, this has to be done every few times you log on to the xbox. After a bit of practice I can do it quite quick. Hope this helps.

The work around is to connect another device to btwifi, note that devices MAC address then change the Xbox ones MAC address to the same as the connected device. This allows you to update, download content too. I'm having an issue connecting to multi player
    games though.

  11. Hello everyone. This is my first time posting on the forums so forgive me if come off with something that has already been said or I don't make sense lol.

I've managed to connect my Xbox 360 and Xbox One to the BT wifi hotspot where I live so if it's any help, here's how I managed it (Xbox One):

I have an iPhone so if you have an android then you'll know how to find the info on your phone that you need.

I have the BT wifi app downloaded to speed things up cause it automatically signs me in so I recommend it.

Once I'm connected to the wifi with both my phone and Xbox One if you tap on the info and copy all of the numbers from the phone into the info on the Xbox One your Xbox One will now recognise the wifi.

Next if you go to settings > general > about, copy your phone's wireless address into the Xbox One's alternate MAC address (this means when you sign into BT wifi your Xbox One will automatically sign in).

After that open the wifi app, let it sign in and then your Xbox will automatically sign into Xbox live Xbox One and BT Openzone :)

IMPORTANT NOTES - if your doing this for the first time you might need to turn your Xbox One off and on again from the mains to refresh everything. I'm able to do everything except for play multiplayer (I'm still working on finding this part out lol). You'll
need to sign into BTWifi every 2 hours as it logs you out of a hotspot after that given time.

For 360 users it's the same steps except you only need to copy the MAC address, nothing else! Xbox One and BT Openzone :) and with 360 you CAN play multiplayer Xbox One and BT Openzone :D

If anyone has any questions feel free to message me and if any one has figured out how to play Xbox One multiplayer using a wifi hotspot I'd be very thankful if you told me how. Sorry for the long post

Sorry I didn't update a lot sooner but ever since the new Xbox One experience I'm able to play games online now. So I can now do everything through BT Openzone as if I was connect to a BT hub lol. And the login required is now every 4 hours so double the
time before you have to reconnect again
