@DEEPU SM. Since December 27 and the initial 6Gb patch for Forza 5, I've gotten 4 or 5 updates; 2 were approximately 2Gb for the new tracks and the rest were relatively small (500Mbs.) for car packs/updates.

With only 8Gbs a month, you are going to have a rough time this generation; personally know someone that took his X1 back after realizing his Satellite internet wasn't going to cut it.

It bugs me when trying to play a quick game of something and need a patch. Why should the game be bricked when I only wanted to play for a few minutes offline? I haven't download the next update on the preview yet, but understand you can delay updates.

    Peace, J.R.

and you're working around the problem instead of demanding it be dealt with properly. There's no legitimate reason for updates being the size they are, nor being kicked completely off XBL if you want to play solo without downloading the giant things. You
can't chat or pop achievements offline, neither of which has anything to do with the damn updates being rammed down our throats. They rushed this console out with a sluggish, minimal UI, bet everything on Kinect and TV TV TV, and the fanboys just defend every
possible thing without logic or reason.

    [/quote]

Obviously, as games become more technologically advanced, they are comprised of more data. The more data that makes up the game, obviously will require more data to patch. Games and patches have been this size on PC for years. And it's no secret to anyone
that PC's are more advanced than consoles

As far as not being able to skip the patch and play online anyway, what exactly do you think these patches are for? They are there to fix something that is broken. Whether that is glitches or exploits which people are using to take advantage of something
within the game. Or broken code that could corrupt your game entirely.

Which would you be more upset about, having to update a large file, or logging in to find all your game progress corrupted or just gone? I'm going with corrupted game data, considering it's happened to me several times. So next time you want to accuse someone
of having no logic or reason, at least try to know what you're talking about so you don't make yourself look foolish.

As far as having 8gb of data . Gaming on this generation of consoles is not for you. Either upgrade your data cap, or find an other hobby. I suggest mountain biking, or coin collecting, or knitting.

@Sword - you're not paying attention. No-one said skip the patch and play online. They said skip the patch and play OFFLINE.

No-where in the minimum requirements for the X1 (or PS4) does it state you need an unlimited broadband service. XBOX ONE - Am getting frequent updates on games - each saying approx 5 GB :p

Satsumo, you're not paying attention. He clearly said he wants to be able to skip the patch and play single player while connected to Xbox Live so he can party chat with his friends
    online.

And obviously, there is no minimum requirement. You can buy an Xbox One and only use it to watch TV for the rest of your life and never have an issue. But if you plan on playing games that are going to be updated with large patches regularly, 8gb of data
isn't going to cover it. Let alone ever be able to download a game. Common sense, give it a try some time.

No - the only way he can carry on playing offline is to disconnect from internet completely. Personally think that is stupid - the game should allow you to play offline without you having to find a workaround.

Also - being able to chat is not playing online. He's still only wanting to play the game solo. So don't go around implying the OP is being dart because "of course you cannot play online without accepting the online patch". He has never said he wants
to play the game online.... he just wants to be able to stay connected (so he can use the other Xbox services) while he plays the game SOLO!!!

Pay attention and stop making stuff up!

Good job repeating what has already been said. By me. In this thread. Quite astute of you. And FYI, if you're playing a game, and you're online, guess what? You're playing online. Notice how when you click on a friends profile and it tells you what game
he is playing and where he is in the game? Take a wild guess at how that is possible. Because he is playing online?! Wow, can't get anything by you...

  7. There's a hell of a difference between playing solo and playing multiplayer. It's not simply "playing online" either way. I shouldn't need a patch to continue playing solo while chatting, receiving messages, etc. One has absolutely nothing to do with the
other. I don't need the *** game patched to send a text message or chat over XBL itself. It's *** to tell me I do. Apparently, you can't even earn achievements if you're not connected, so that's another way not wanting to update just to play singleplayer screws
    us.

Who said anything about multiplayer? As stated in my previous post, if you're playing a game, and you're online, you're playing online whether you like it or not. And FYI, people glitch and exploit in single player games too.

  10. Who gives a damn how people exploit singleplayer? How does it affect you? We used to have gamesharks, codebreakers, and action replays. Now we barely even get built in cheats for singleplayer. Devs could make some serious coin selling cheat menus for some
of these singleplayer games, especially if cheats didn't disable achievements. No different than F2P games where people pay for an advantage, really.

  11. btw, the day one patch for Sniper Elite 3 is 10GB on XB1, but it's under 500MB on PS4. Tell me that's fair.

I totally agree with the OP, these HUGE day one updates are getting out of hand.

However the OP has to realise that if he has his console connected to the internet, the game will check to see if an update is available. Thats how it was on the 360 and thats how it will always be.

If the OP doesnt wish to download the updates, thats his option, however I think if he got to a certain part of Watch Dogs and his save got corrupted, he would be straight on to the forums complaining about this game breaking bug and why wasnt it updated.

Just saying OP, you choose not to update, you may not like what happens, games ship with bugs (some of them game breaking in the case of Watch Dogs) Now I agree these sort of bugs shouldnt require a 10GB update, but developers put alot of stuff into the
updates, not just new content but also fixes etc.

(As a software developer myself) I suspect a large of the problem is that developers are getting lazy with their deployments - their patches includes a full set of binaries rather than just patching the fixes and deploying the affected binaries.

Also if there was some cost associated (to the developer) based on the size of their deployments they would ensure they broke down their binaries to smaller components so that they were easier to patch without having to patch (download) everything.

You know what makes a system popular? It should be more user friendly and should know limitations of users in global level rather than considering small city or province.. this must be planned accordingly before developing system and should be aligned till
    its released for customers.

FYI: Yesterday also I got prompt to update Forza 5 and it was 895 MB. I update it and played but am worrying when will be next update that I receive.. it might be today or tomorrow? this is my question.. am getting frequent update though I update it regularly.

Updates can get R E A L L Y annoying and are numerous. Especially since updates are much more bigger on Xbox 1. Last night I downloaded a 500MB approx update for Project Spark Beta. Thank fully the size wasn't in the GB's which is what Forza and other games
have been. Try to get use to it.
