Xbox One always online policy has just hurt me for the first time...

I just moved into my new house. We are currently trying to get internet and cable in my area. As it is a new construction, the cable company has to run the cables to the house. This process is apparently going to take several weeks. Since I currently have
no other form of entertainment I planned on playing through the campaigns of some of my other XBox One games. Thanks to the brilliant 'always online' policy my XBox is not allowing me to play any of these games.... Whose idea was this? I purchased a $500
gaming machine that I can't play games on when I want to. Nice job Microsoft. I should note at this point that I tried to hook up my old XBox 360 to play that, but that is now apparently broken. I called support on this issue, and Microsoft won't fix it unless
I pay. It's been a real nice experience all around.

Suppose MS goes full reverse, what problems do they face?

It's really simple... offer a cheaper version that DOES NOT INCLUDE THE KINECT!! Also, take back their idiotic used game and always online policy... right now the ONLY thing the xbox has going for it is it will have Halo and PS4 will not. not worth the extra
money and absurd hassle just for one game

I think it comes to a point where enough is enough. MS is reducing the KINECT burden from 8% to 2% for XBOX ONE and the console has only been released roughly 3 month. I don't believe a kinectless version would help. I would prefer they keep the kinect 2.0
in all console, because the dev can use it.

They can release a 4G verison of XBOX ONE for people with bad connect and bring back the ALWAYS ONLINE for all user.

The XBOX ONE is not under power. It was originally designed to use CLOUD PROCESSING for game but the sudden reversal of the always online policy really screwed everything up. Now the devs only have DDR3 and the added complexity of ESRAM. Look at the parity
between 3rd party games and you will know.

I want my 3rd party games to be 1080P and 60FPS just like the other console.

Anyone with me ???? Those who want MS to revers the always online policy need to be more vocal.

 

go to settings go to network if using wifi select remove wifi info... go to settings de select auto sign in.... restart Xbox.... play games (as long as they are all updated)

Your console is set to auto log on.. asking for you to sign in... remove this option and it will work offline

I think you owe Microsoft an apology.

This policy was changed right after E3 2013.

Where have you been?

 

If you go to Settings - Network - Go offline, then it puts the console into offline mode. In the regular mode, it is designed to be used while connected to Xbox Live, which is why you ran into problems, but it's not mandatory that you have to be online,
hence the "Go offline" option.

 

That's good info to have. I had never realized this before. Next time I have internet issues, I'll be sure to do this.

Yeah, one of the features I requested is to have it automatically ask if you want to go into that mode if Xbox Live is down or you can't connect for any reason. A lot of people don't know it's there.

 

I didn't know that either. Good tip to remember.
