Xbox One achievement problems prevent games from being completed

^ Forgot about that one, the Killing 10 Dragons on Dragon Age bugged out on me to.

Like someone mentioned in this thread or another in the last few days, if you only started gaming around the time of the Xbox 360 then achievements are what you know. Me I started gaming with the likes of PONG, I still enjoyed my gaming with no scores attached
and it honestly wouldn't bother me if they scrapped achievements altogether.

 

I understand what people are saying about achievements I have been a gamer since electronic gaming was invented. My handle3 has a teenager was Defender which was an arcade game in pool halls in my teens along with space invaders and Moon Cresta. My favourite
programmer in the 80s was Pete Cook who wrote Tau Ceti, Academy and Micronaught One on the 8 bit machines. In the 90s Halflife brought us the first real great 3D first person adventure unless you include Mercenary and Elite in the wire frame games but most
achievements are skill based challenges within the game which I do enjoy. This achievement isn't even that which makes it even more frustrating in a game that has many challenges that come with no achievement and I actively avoid endurance achievements like
play for 500 hours. This one is only important to me because the Saint Row series is a series on my completed list. Just playing a game through to the credits leaving the challenges behind seems a little pointless. If your that way minded you might has well
put a game on easy like COD and run through to end in a couple of hours. If that's what your happy with that's fine. Myself I like challenge and I like to compete. This achievement isn't even a challenge its a pointless achievement and they cant even get that
to work. On Xbox a game isn't completed till its finished with all challenges then it go's into your completed section. If a game isn't in your completed section no matter how much you want to believe you've completed it you haven't, your the guy who runs
through COD on easy and that's just not much fun for me.

Then if you like to beat a game on the hardest setting, complete every extra etc, then as long as you've done it, you know yourself you've done it then surely that's all that matters.

The only thing an achievement does in this sense is let everyone else know you done it.

 

One other thing, there's always been challenges in games except yesteryear you gained an extra life or a massive bonus if you pulled off the challenge. This isn't something new.

I don't think others can see my completed games list other than my friends.. It's a personal thing and I've never seen a completed section of even my friends so that maybe wrong. It's amazing how many people think they are the ones who decide when the game
is complete. That's the programmers prerogative. If the game isn't in that section it's not complete/finished. So all games with broken achievements are impossible to complete and seeing has THQ as gone to the wall I think Saints Row 4 the Xbox One full DLC
version will remain that way.

 

You can still complete the game.

What you can't complete is the achievement list.

 

Achievements not unlocking can be frustrating. While one may know what they accomplished, the achievement popping is the solidification. For some (including myself) this is a fantastic feeling. When I did meet the requirements for the achievement and
it does not unlock that can be infuriating.

In my opinion, Achievements should just work. I know, so simple right?

I'm not deciding for anyone else if they have completed a game or not, whether they got the achievements for it, finished a game on easy, hard etc.

We all play how we want to. For me I can play a game on easy, finish the main story, not complete one side quest, only get a 1/4 of the achievements, it doesn't bother me personally. As long as I've had fun then I don't need an achievement to show it and
I don't need to finish a game on the hardest setting to say I've completed it.

Again I'm not knocking anyone for going after achievements, doing everything there is to do in a game, we are all different, it just isn't for me in that respect.

 

I just unlock 2 Crimson Dragon achievements...But didn't played it for a year and delete it from my hdd a while ago.....

Aye it's like Lofty Who says, we all get fun from our games in different ways. For me I've chased these things since the beginning of gaming although they were mainly secrets you learned by accident from lots of play like in Moon Cresta if you shot the ships
in a very specific order you'd get a smaller identical ship that fought along side you. I also hunt the Easter eggs. Achievements should be that though, either from skilful play or discovering something. I do hope they fix Saints Row 4 because quality games
are the exception. It might not seem that way if your collection is just quality games. For me C.O.D, Assassins Creed, Batman, Halflife and many more but they are a small percentage the rest usually end up sat in the bargain bin then end up on your play list
with a 5g score. Thanks for everybody's input on the subject, maybe the title should have said " prevents adding the game to your completed list".

 

The 3 new Ryse achievements just got unlock,for me.

(Didn't played for a while and Ryse is deleted from my hdd).
