Xbox one A button not always functioning properly?/apps won't launch

So this just started happening out of the blue but my A button on my controller doesn't seem to work.....or actually, i don't think it's the button itself. the xbox seems to recognize that i hit A (for example, trying to start a game from games and apps)
but whatever i try accessing simply won't work. i can't even turn off the controller or the console by holding the xbox button, the screen shows up and the little square flashes but nothing happens. i can't launch any apps or games since the xbox won't launch
them. i've tried changing batteries, and i even unplugged my xbox to restart it entirely. and while unplugging worked it was only a temporary fix. It's definitely not the controller, i've switched to a practically brand new controller i don't use often and
the same thing happens. if anyone has any advice, i'm open to suggestions. thank you.

a button always pressed

the a button is always pressed down sometimes it is not the controller i have tried two different ones and same problem but i have found no fix. i cant look at my friends and cant use my games and apps but sometimes it stops fore
no reason it does not effect games just the home and Xbox apps.

News on Update?? Xbox One will NOT read discs/open certain APPS

the games and apps that won't launch can't even be uninstalled....

Try this. Remove all power from the controller for 5 minutes (disconnect from console and remove batteries). Then perform a hard reset on the console. Hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug
the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart the console. Once it is back up and operational put new batteries in the controller and test for results. Let us know. Good Luck!

Try to reset the app

1. Open the settings by pressing the Windows + i keys

2. Go to Apps> Applications and features.

3. Select the Xbox application and then click Advanced Options.

4. Click the Reset button.

5. Confirm the reset by clicking on Reset again.

6. Go back to the Xbox app and check if it works properly again.

Run troubleshooter

1. Open Settings again (Windows + i)

2. Go to Update & Security> Troubleshooting.

3. Select Xbox app and then click the Run Troubleshooter button.

4. The utility will launch and check for problems that are preventing the App from functioning properly. If it detects anomalies, follow its recommendations.

5. When the problems are resolved, close the utility.

6. Go back to the Xbox app and check if it works properly again.

I mapped one of the paddles to the left stick for sprinting in games on my Elite. Both the paddle and left stick click have been working fine.

Make sure your button is functioning properly in other games--it could be jammed. Also, double-check your button mapping (Xbox Accessories App) and controller settings (in the game).

Just to add, I have so far tried:

Restarting/rebooting PC
Ending the Xbox (Beta) task in Task Manager and launching it again
Using the Terminate function in the App Settings menu
Using the Repair function in the App Settings menu
Using the Reset function in the App Settings menu

None of these worked.

I've just tried Uninstalling the app and downloading the XboxInstaller again, and now it won't install, it just hangs after I click the 'Install' button - so I don't recommend doing that if anyone's having the same issue! Trying to get the Xbox (Beta) app
from the Microsoft Store just causes the MS Store to do nothing after clicking the 'Get' button.

If anyone knows how I can raise a proper support ticket for this I'd be very grateful!
